Acura Legend Cylinder head to NSX heads?
All right I'm just curious here I've been reading some different forms here online but can anyone tell me for a fact can the C32 cylinder heads from a NSX bolt on to an C32 Legend? looking at it since the legend is only SOHC by changing the heads wouldn't it make it an DOHC?

wont work. NSX heads are way too big, plus they have VTEC and different oil passageways.
then you would have to custom burn a chip, and probably just get a new ECU to work with the engine and the transmission.

nope. nsx ECU goes with the NSX transmission, which is VERY different in both ways (auto and manual) from the legends. and you cant do a transmission swap because the NSX is a very very different drivetrain setup

they did figure it out. its called an NSX.
build up the legend engine just like you would any other one. if you want serious power, do what you do to all the other ones, get lighter rods, higher compression pistons, P&P the heads, etc etc.

the heads and vtec set-up would be cheaper if it was from a C32 equipped Accord, TL, CL or even a type-s. plus, the ecu is for an auto. your biggest problem would be the obd1 to obd2. use the exhaust manifold from a newer motor for that.
but, then you could have just swapped in a complete v6 powertrain and have an updated motor and transmission. save you labor and money over custom building a motor.
just supercharge it....from jackson racing.

no one makes a supercharger kit for legends. custom kits are in the works right now, but there is not a specific kit for the C32A engine.
Also, there is no swap that is simple on the legend. Especially the 2nd generation. The only swap I have ever seen is to put a 3.5L RL engine in a legend, and that was only the bottom end of it. A type 2 intake manifold was used in the swap. Not only that, but A LOT of custom work was needed. Including an engine mount, and a water channel not being long enough. There isnt a reasonable swap for any normal person out there. The best way to get power is to tweak the engine that is already there. Which includes head work, P&P intake manifold, 3 angle valve job, headers, full exhaust, CAI, bored out throttle body, chip, grounding kit, new ignition, new coil packs, and so on.
If you want to tweak the car you can....It just isnt cheap...but the gains are excellent.

Re: Acura Legend Cylinder head to NSX heads? (92typeII)
Both the Legend and NSX engine are very similar in design. Despite the DOHC ....
The heads theoretically would fit. But the real challenge would be the drivetrain.
Unless you found someway to mod a ECU from a 4 speed Auto TL , though the 99 TL is still a SOHC vtec, not sure how you would get that to work with NSX hardware ....
prolly would never get it to run ...

you could put the legend head on an NSX a lot easier than vise versa. There is not enough room between the strut towers and the engine to mount the DOHC VTEC heads. Not only that, but the oils lines done line up. But you could always have that machined to work, but plan on spending a few G's doing just that. Then you have to figure out how to make a custom ECU to work with the VTEC DOHC heads. Then you have to figure out how to make your transmission work with VTEC, along with all of the other parts of the engine, getting that big of a bump in power.
Not possible, unless money is infinite.

Re: (RangerJoe)
guys, please listen to what ranger joe is saying.
the DOHC VTEC heads from the NSX will not work on the legend motor.
it has been hashed over and over (on legend forums), and it just doesnt work.
case closed.

we had a guy out here he told my brother that he can supercharge the legend for only $4000 doller. Before we had the money and by the way this was like 3 to 4 years ago some drunk driver side swap the legend and that was the end of one awsome car.

supercharging will not be that difficult. nothing compared to what turbocharging will take.
but it would cost a lot more than $4000 to do it correct. you have to have tuning, ECU upgrades, injector upgrades, intercooler, space to fit the intercooler, belts, a transmission that will handle that much more power...
etc etc. not only that, but you would probably want to rebuild your engine, with much stronger parts.

You are right, but i think a good engine can hold up to 6PSI boost with no problems. The guy said he did it to a 4 door legend, but we did not get a chance to see that car.

Re: (ITAcelica)
well, at least the american legend was better looking. that legend looks like a toyota crown.
also, the pic of the custom turbo set-up, is that engine longitudally mounted?? i was told that the first and second gen legends had horizontally mounted engines.

Re: (92`Legend)
i think you guys need to specify longitudal or transverse.
this horizontal and whatever is bullshit.
the 1st gen legends had their motors located like almost all FWD cars today -- transverse.
the 2nd gen legends were different in that the motor was located longitudally, like most RWD cars.
sheesh.
