2006 Acura TL code U0107 limp mode - need help diagnosing the problem
A couple weeks ago my car shuttered then a few miles later lost power while on the fwy. It went into "limp" mode so I exited the fwy and had the car towed home. The local mechanic pulled a code U0107 (lost communication with throttle actuator control module). He cleaned the throttle body (TB) and replaced the boot between the air filter and the TB ($180). My test drive around the block showed normal behavior. Then while driving home only a few blocks away the car again lost power causing me to park the car. After a few mins I started the car and drove it home normally. Problem is intermittent so I won't drive again until problem has been resolved. I researched the issue on the internet including this forum and replaced the accelerator pedel position sensor (APPS) as the next step ($150 New OEM part from Ebay). The car had sat for over a week and now it will not start (battery is strong engine turns but no ignition) so the APPS was not the problem. Also the failure appears complete, no longer intermittent. Next step I changed the relay for the throttle actuator control (TAC) module ($6.78 part at AutoZone)..still did not fix the problem.
What should be my next step? Replace the throttle body, electronic control (GMA3A) ( Honda part #16400-RKB-003) costs $280.95? Or replace the TAC module (37850-PPD-911) similarly priced at $280.82? Or get a mechanic to trace down a possible short?
