Default 1997 Acura 1.6EL

Here's some pics of my 1.6EL. Its a Canadian only model based on the Civic. It has the 127hp SOHC VTEC engine from the EX. It comes stock with 15" wheels, keyless entry, Integra-type seats, and lots of options. So far I've added Integra wheels, an AEM cold air intake, Fast 1.5" lowering springs, front and reat strut bars, Toyo Proxes FZ4 205/50/15 tires, carbon fiber emblems, Acura driving lights, JG Dynamics short shifter and ****, and a Vibrant exhaust. Tell me what you think.

Like the way the car looks, the stance is nice, not too low. The wheels and tires look all stock, and go with the overall look of the car. Nice set up.

Don't like the gear shift ****. It doesn't seem to go well with the overall look. It's "too silver."

Thanks. I decided to stick with 15's because I got a great deal on the Teg wheels and my tires weren't very old. My inside door handles came in the same finish as the shift **** so I think it looks good. I know what you maean by that picture because it kind of sticks out in the sea of charcoal. It only cost $120 Canadian ($75 US) for the short shifter and **** so I couldn't pass it up. Makes a huge difference.

1.6el don't mean to invade your thread but it's nice to see another EL owner on here...

Nice EL you have there Acura-1.6el. I see you painted your headlights and cleared your signals. How hard was it to do?

Wow, I completely dig those cars. A very high-end civic. Are there any sport models like that?

The EL came in 3 models when I bought my car - base, sport, and premium but they all have the same engine. Check http://www.honda.ca for details on the new 1.7EL.

I remember the first time I saw one. I was coming back from a fishing trip in Temiscamig, Quebec, and I pulled into a Tim Horton's in Toronto. When I got out of the car I noticed the car beside me was an Acura, and thought little of it. When I came out, there were strange EL badges and it said 1.6. I thought someone did a Domani conversion on a Civic, and got custom badges for it. Then I saw another, and another, until I counted five total. They are great looking cars with true uniqueness in the Honda family.
