I have an 01 CL that has started having transmission trouble. (the torque conv shakes the car getting out of park, and when it warms up it wants to miss 1st & 2nd gears). I took it to a "transmission specialist shop" and they have recommended that I have them rebuild the tranny for $3200-$3800! (cheapest quote around here was $3000) They found 1 used tranny with 140k+ miles on it for $2600, but recommended I not go that route. (and I certainly wouldn't!) With the cars value topping out at around $4000, I'm finding it difficult to put close to that much in it on a tranny. This car is my baby! I have done all the work myself on this beauty and it is in tip-top shape. Unfortunately, transmissions are out of my league. I understand that this model (not the Type-S) with the auto/manual is tough to find due to multiple reasons: not many made, poor quality history, even a recall I think, etc... Does anyone here have any suggestions??? Anybody know a Honda/Acura person that likes to tinker around rebuilding transmissions???
