What octane does the RSX base run on?
Hey everyone I am highly considering a RSX for my new car, and I was wondering if it runs on 87? Everyone says 91 should always be used for optimum performance yada yada yada, but I want something sporty that can use 87. I have been focusing on the EP3, but I was told the RSX runs on 91 by the dealer, but I think I saw on edmunds once that it ran on 87? I would want to get the Type-S but I want a car with decent mileage :-P.
My e-mail is orehman@msn.com
Thanks everyone.

NICE, thanks 96 SOHC VTEC, mad appreciated. I drove one, but I kept slipping on the clutch and stalled twice because I was wearing my sandals and the kept on catching onto the carpet ugh. That car is mad quick.

the base model is definately not "mad quick" in its stock trim.
but also to answer your question, Regular gas (86 octane) is fine, Super (93+) is a MUST for the type-s.

acura says its 91, so 93+ is NOT a must.

Re: (BoBoChan)
LoL well after driving a 01 Rolla ANYTHING IS FAST LoL j/p, but yeah the S MUST use premium, or else a knockin' is a comin'. I just want the car because it is relatively quick, has good enough power, good torque, and nice mileage on regular octane.

91, 93, whatever, it varies where you are. as long as its not 86. your manual should say premium fuel only, which is what 91+ is.

Why do you need to run 87? Gas shouldnt be an issue if you were to fill up your base and my S lets say they were both empty you'd only save about 2$ for running 87. Gas and oil is not something you should buy cause of the price you should buy it cause of the quality. You gotta figure its going into your engine why are you gonna cheap out?

Putting 93 in a car that was meant to run on 87 isn't going to do anything. Putting 87 in a car meant to run on 91 and above is a different story.
