SRS light doesn't come on?

during startup, the SRS and passenger side airbag lights don't come on.

ABS does illuminate then turn off as expected… thoughts?

Sensor(s) out. I know that my belt receptor had to be replaced this past year because of the SRS not reading things properly. It wasn't cheap.

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

Wouldn't the airbag light come on if there was a critical fault?

turbo sol 10-25-2018 07:50 PM

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

i figured it would be on if a fault was reading…

Im gonna pull the cluster and run through the FSM procedures for checking that. I haven't pulled any of the SRS codes yet either…

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

well it does come on, but you can't see it when it has tape over the cluster light.

now that I can see it, I am going to trouble shoot the actual SRS system.

it was been in an accident before… so I am not surprised…

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

You'll have to google it, but there's a yellow plug in the under dash fuse box. Short those wires to each other and the SRS light will give you a flashing code to help you track down the issue.

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

the srs reset didn't work, so I pulled the codes, but not having luck reading the flashes

video of light flashes

i feel like its a 15-7? (the 15 seem right, but the 7 doesn't.)

I only see 15-1, 15-2, 15-3 codes listed in diagnostic charts…?
any one with more experience able to help decipher the code(s)

Are you following this procedure? https://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=636707 Looks like you have more than 1 code

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

that is the link I was using, along with a downloaded FSM.
here is what it says about multi codes…

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

after looking again it looks like perhaps its:

15-1 Faulty OPDS unit or OPDS system not initialized
7-2 Internal failure of SRS unit

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

I agree to that

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

i orders a new SRS control unit and will be picking up a SRS code reader. might need a new OPDS computer too, but I will see where this gets me first.

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

got the SRS computer in and cleared the 7-2 code (biggest pain in the ass was disconnecting all the airbag sensors before removing the old computer – don't want to chance it when explosives are involved)

orders a OPDS unit for the passenger seat to see if I Can get the 15-1 code to clear out…

on a side note I picked up a Zurick zr-13 obd2 reader with ABS and SRS support from harbor freight, it was 50 bucks off and I can use it to help with his, and my other cars!

Re: SRS light doesn't come on?

Grabbed the OPDS computer for $50, but ended up clearing all the codes and getting it initialized without having to install the new part.

I'm glad to report the SRS system is back to factory ready. Thanks guys!

Sometimes bad sensors also trip bad module codes, glad you got it sorted
