Rim offset questions.....cant get my head around this!
Hey guys, i'm pretty lost about this and i would hopefully like to get it cleared. So, i'm in the market for a new wheel and tire set up in the near future, but am doing my homework now so i dont make a mistake later. I am looking at getting a set of Enkei RPF1's for my 02 Civic EP3. Now, i do have some questions about different offsets with this rim because i think there are some RPF1 set ups that look decent, then theres others that look like garbage. I am thinking of running a 17x7 with a + 30 offset. Now, some rpf1's have a "bubble" look to them. i want to make sure i DON'T have that look. Here's an example of a good look vs the bubble look. (first good 17x9.5 +38, second bad 17x8 +35) What do you guys think?? 17x7 +30 nay or yay?? any pictures would do some good too
Thanks
Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "bubble look". Are you saying you want more or less of a lip on the wheel?
For a 17x7 size you'll want a higher offset, like +42.
This should help:

the inside spokes arent completely flat on the second picture.
i think on the rpf1 that is attributed to the width more than the offset.
the wider the wheel the flatter the spokes
i dunno why that is. i've never seen 17x7 or 17x7.5 rpf1 with flat spokes(if someone has please enlighten me)
bottom line if you want to get rpf1 with flat spokes
you have to get the wider sizes and smaller offset
imo it's not worth the extra weight just to get flat spokes, but to each his own.
im also in the market for rpf1
looking for 17x7 +45 or 17x7.5 +48 (5x114.3)

Ok, so this is what i was expecting........basically to confirm, for me to run "flat spokes" for my set up, i would have to go with a wide rim width, example 8-9" and a lower offset number, correct?? Your looking at 17x7 +45, your most likely going to be running a "bubble" look, rite?? are you 4 or 5 bolt?? I'm not leaning towards a 16" rim, maybe 16x8 + 38, little smaller in size, and maybe just a little bubble, BUT i can run a nice 225/50 rubber or something.......little beefy tire may make up for it....

Im running some Enkei RPF1's on my 2004 EP3 running 17x9 +35 offset in the fronts and 17x7.5 +42 offset in the back. Mag blue on silver EP.
running 17x9 +35 in all four corners i wouldnt do. car will handle like crap.

on a stock plateform with out any body work.. you can run up to a +30 offset to be flush or right at the fenders.. hopefully this helps.. most rims with a 45 or higher offset will look sunken in..

Re: Rim offset questions.....cant get my head around this!
whhaaa...please send me a link or tell me where to get them.
i was going to make the mistake of getting them in +48 offset
17x7.5 rpf1 +42 5x114.3 in f1 silver
thats exactly what i want.
i was going to settle for the same setup just +48 offset because i thought thats all they were available in

would 17x8 +35 fit without rolling fenders?
or 17x8 +45???
ahhh so many options iuno what to do
and i do not see 17x7.5 +42 5x114.3 as an option anywhere
its only +48

Re: Rim offset questions.....cant get my head around this!
Offset is irrelevant regarding your question. To get the flat spoke look you will need to go at least 9" wide. Mine below are 18x8 +35. I didnt want to do any fender work nor stretch the tires so I did not go any wider.
I wish they made the flat spoke in 8" widths. And I do not understand why they do not based on how much extra metal there is between the spokes and the hub. But I am not the wheel engineer... It is probably to ensure caliper clearance on certain vehicles.

Re: Rim offset questions.....cant get my head around this!
why would it make a difference if i ran 17x7.5 vs 17x8 if im gonna be using 225/45/17 anyways? is it just from a aesthetic standpoint?
and would i be able to run
17x8 +30
or
17x8+45
without rubbing and rolling fenders?
my ep3 is on rsx aspec suspension
i still dunno where you got 17x7.5 +42....
