Weird because in the 3 states close to me I couldnt find a base rsx within 2 grand of my ep3, Which i got for around a normal 9 g's. I must admit I would rather have an ep3 though.

Very true. Your spending your money on what (if you take care of properly) will last you well past 200k miles. I actually just saw a 93 integra with 320k that still ran great for sale.. good stuff

Re: (02_Si_FTW)
I really like the looks of the EP3. If I were to say what EP3 to go for, it would definitely be the 04-05 EP3, the ECU has been tuned differently with the lightened flywheel of the 04-05 EP3's, headlights and tailights look sexy as hell on the EP3 for those years, stock side skirts were added, five lug 16" wheels which look much better than the 02-03 model 15" Si wheels. I also noticed the 04-05 EP3's were much quieter to drive than the 02-03 models, perhaps Honda added more "padding" or silencing material in the panels. The suspension was also tuned a little better for the 04-05 models. Just keep in mind that it's always best to wait and buy a car after its been updated in it's model genre, instead of jumping the gun the first few years of its production, because you're going to miss out on cool little upgrades later down the road. I would go for the newer model EP3's because they are just way cooler, have a higher value, are rare, clean, and look sexy. I got over the minivan thing after I saw the HFP model Civics, after which I wanted one badly, but instead I bought an 03 RSX-S and couldn't be happier with my decision. I really disliked the fact that the EP3 has the K20A3, which it shares with the base model RSX. If I'm going to shell out for an EP3, I'd want the engine to be one of a kind, not some left over scrap that it shares with a base model Acura!
Pros:
- Rarity
- Interior room
- One of a kind
- Shifter
- 04-05 models look amazing
- Great JDM or like-aftermarket parts that are tasteful
- Great ride and comfortable cruiser
Cons:
- Not much bang for the buck
- Slow engine not worth doing anything to
- Not much offered in the way of luxury or options
- No i-VTEC on the exhaust
- May not be as easy to sell at the end of your ownership
- Rear suspension is mounted inside the body
- Front independent MacPherson struts
- Curb Weight: 2744 lbs

Well it's an AMIP plugin I use to relay the music I listen to, it's an addiction I've had ever since it's creation, about 10 years ago...so, sorry...but I've been doing it for a long while

Re: (Metalluthier)
I love my ep, ive had tons of people look at my car while im on the pump asking me how nice it is and what it was..and my ep is a stock 05, with minor mods like ctr wing and 17 inch work emotion or 16 inch rpf1's on fat tires....to me steals my heart over any everyday eg/ek.
i think it is the onyl dohc civic hb to hit the states...if this is true years from now people will want these cars bad.i love my ep.
its looks like an egg but eg's do aswell

^^ You bumped a thread from 2008, lol
K series engines are not all the same.
That A3 version found in the ep3 is a base version with 160hp, and is about an 8 second 0-60 time.
Many other more powerful k engines can easily be swapped in for better performance. It's a great car for cheap, and often overlooked

Re: pros and cons of the ep3?
I like the ep3 because I'm tall and fits me better than older civics and preludes. The only thing I hate is that the shifter is right below the radio controls. My girls hand is always in the way when Im trying to shift. Also the passenger shouldn't have access to the sunroof.

Re: pros and cons of the ep3?
Pros: Rare car in certain parts of the country U.S.
Easy swap ability k20 k24 etc
nice seats
unique shifted location
roomy compared to its sister car rsx
Last true hatch before this new 2017 civic
reliable
cons: Slow,Very slow with stock motor
not true vtec
expensive parts as their is no competition among companies
hard to find replacement parts
rsx type s is a better choice for performance
people who own ep3s do not let go for cheap...Which is also a good thing.

Re: pros and cons of the ep3?
Had a K20A (Type R version) swapped in this year, along with its tranny and LSD, then had it tuned with Kpro. Makes it much more fun, and still relatively inexpensive when all totaled up. I've had it a little over two years now. Not as much fun as my CRX, but a much more practical daily and I love its quirks. Especially when modding fixes most of the bad quirks (I don't think I'll ever be fully happy with the suspension on newer Hondas). I think the shifter location alone make it worth buying.

Re: pros and cons of the ep3?
Agree- that's part of the appeal. Also, pretty inexpensive, utilitarian, and an interesting blank canvas on which to 'build your own' unusual car for not a ton of money.
I can buy a 10k rpm/300+ hp pro-built 4Piston Racing long block for what an engine reseal would cost on my 911; that's value.

Re: pros and cons of the ep3?
Bump. I've now got about 300 miles on my new-to-me EP3. Stock motor, stage 1 exedy clutch w/ LW flywheel, KPro running the low-octane performance cal. This car is a riot, and so cheap I'm not afraid to beat it. I really like it.
