K20A Type R in RSX won't start.
Just got things hooked up to my best knowledge and the motor cranks but does not start.
We are using a Type R ecu and wiring harness.
We checked the plugs and they are getting spark.
But I can not hear my fuel pump kicking in.
Also, near the oil filter there is a wire coming out with a plug on the end and then 3 wires coming out with no plug on them.
Anyone have any ideas what I should check or do?

that plug is for the crank sensor. either the one at the middle of the timing belt cover or the one at the bottom on the timing belt cover

Ok. So we tried using the Type S ecu and the car started up. I think the immobilizer is what was causing it because i could clearly hear the fuel pump priming.
Now that it is running though. At first it was idling high and now it it normal but the CEL is on and the car only revs to 4000rpm. Limp mode if you will. How can this be fixed?

Do you think I could just disconnect the immobilizer and use the type r ecu?
Right now the car is running in limp mode on the type s ecu.
It is my cousins car and he got the code read and it was something to do with the "vtec switch" or something like that.

I am simply confused about why the car will not start with the Type R ecu.
I figured out that the problem with using the Type S ecu is that it is searching for the "vtec oil pressure sensor" when there is not one, causing the car to run in limp mode.
Does anyone know what I should do to get the car running healthy. I understand K-pro would be the best option but not the most practical for our situation.

i think you should go with k-pro on this one. it will solve a great deal of problems from now and into the future. Why wouldn't it be practical if you dont mind me asking

Re: K20A Type R in RSX won't start.
Im wanting to know some info along the same topic as this. I just recently did a RHD swap on my Type-s. I am now wanting to do the K20A enigne, traanny, ecu setup to. I was wondering if I would have any issues doing this? I have done alot of research on the issue of getting the car to start. The reason I bring this up is bc when I ordered my RHD clip it came with everything minus the engine, tranny, and ecu. But came with the original honda key for the dash and doors from the DC5. My car wouldnt start so i switched out the steering bulkhead back to the type-s on the RHD dash and just used the factory acura key, and it started up and ran fine. So now i have the honda key to unlock the doors bc the doors are from the original DC5 bc i didnt feel like cutting and splicing wires, and have the acura key to start it up being i still have the Type-s ECU in it..Do you guys think i will run into the same issue if i do the K20A setup?

Re: K20A Type R in RSX won't start.
the k20r ecu. I forget, but either the fuel pump or ecu has to be connected to a ground at all times. The only problem with the type r ecu is that if you leave it in aux mode - the pump will keep pumping. so you might want to put that ground on a switch.
