Jackson SC for EP3

How much HP does Jackson supercharger put out on EP3? I don't know too much about it, but about how much should I expect to pay total if I was to supercharge my car? parts + installation + and more parts = ?

Thanks a million,

Re: Jackson SC for EP3 (Jaypee)

Really depends what else you have on the car. But it'll add like 40-60whp.

for 40-60 whp?! no thanks! what a waste of money.

cai intake: +200 dollars = +5 whp
header: +250 dollars = 3-5 whp
catback exhaust: +400 dollars = 3-5 whp
Hondata ecu: 600= 10 whp

If you get all of the above you might have yourself slightly over 12 more whp than stock and you would have spent well over 1k.
Imo its worth the 2500 bucks for 40 whp. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif Sure turbo gives you more bang for your buck, but Turbo isnt for everyone.

Re: Jackson SC for EP3 (redronin22)

It really is worth it. We've got 2 regular customers that come in with the JRS and let me tell you, those things can go pretty good. We trounced an NSX the other day with one of them, as much as it pains me to say.

Quite frankly if you think about, lets say 2500$/50HP = 50$/HP, whereas like the person above metionned: a CAI is 200$/5HP = 40$/HP, Exhaust is prolly 500$/5HP = 100$/HP, Hondadata is 600$/10 = 60$/HP. So when you put it that way, it really doesnt seem like that bad of an investment now does it?

Unless you're really into NA tuning like me, this is definitly something you'll want to consider.

Good choice! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

And also check out the JR webpage (EP3 Section for you) @ http://jacksonracing.com/Brows...eID=1

It'll give you pricing, specs, dyno and even instructions on how to install (I believe...).

I can tell you first hand that they are definetely worth the money. I have one and love it. You will never get the same results with bolt ons.
Save your money (or buy mine https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif )

I'm not sure about a EP3 but I sat in a Type S with a jackson sc and it was crazy. The car picked up and it went. I would recomend this sc. even though it give you about 40 - 50 hpm, look at the torque numbers. its' insane. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

no thanks? 40-60 is only a peak number, and is too broad. %40 whp increase is more realistic. with a stock vehicle, and just the super charger, one could expect a 14.9-15.1 quarter mile time with ideal conditions.

for about $1000 less one could do a K24 block swap, for about a 25% power increase.

yea but with a K24 block you still need a Type S head. plus it's not as reliable. I'm sure alot of people want power but they also want reliablility.

Not everybody wants to start tearing into they EP3/DC5, some people just want a more simple bolt on option.

Re: Jackson SC for EP3 (blustreek99)

I know It is not quite the same https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif, But I am also running a JRSC and the power is only half the story. The drivability in any gear is soo much improved. I find myself stiring the old 6 speed less than I used to, and if you are cruzing at say 60 in 6th and you need to overtake in a hurry the car just pulls right away. The middrange is really whare the SC really comes into its own. I can even, once rolling, pull away from the wife's Impreza STi (V7). At the moment I am only putting out 236.8 bhp at the hubs, (Dynapack), However my current exhaust and intake are not working well so I am going for an injen style long ram and a new exhaust with a bigger bore (60mm). Also the Jackson header and a custom K-pro remap is going on in 2 weeks. So I should see up to 260 odd at the hubbs.

It is great fun I can tall you, and it's a sleeper as far as m3's are conserned. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: Jackson SC for EP3 (Phil DeVtec)

I hear what you are saying but a 1/4 mile drag is as mutch about traction as it is bhp. I know guys over here who are running low 14's with I/E on type-r's, and our current best JRSC'd car is running mid to hi 12's, remember 10ths of second at that speed is quite a lot, can be car lengths.

But as i said earlier streight line performance is not the be all and end all of performance as I am sure you guys know. If you wanted to just go in a line as fast as poss youd get a turbo'd streight 6 or something, preferably with 4wd or rwd. Our Hondas have handeling and that fun factor. In a line I may only have a car legnth perhaps of a decent na car (I may suffer traction issues from the start), yet on a track or on the road in real world terms I am gonna be so mutch quicker coming out of bends or overtaking due to the low down pick up.

But perhaps I am looking at it from a different point of view with european driving styles, you know all those roundabouts and twisty county roads. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

hehe I could only afford it because me and the missus just sold our flat (appartment?), Made a healthy profit and with cash left over after buying our new home bought her an Impreza, and me the JRSC so I can keep up with her. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Where did you get your hondata for $300 dollars. I was looking at a SC but I'm not too sure about the Jackson. I've heard alot better reviews from Vortech. Can anyone please clarify which is better?

Re: Jackson SC for EP3 (Jaypee)

I had my ep3 equipped with a jrsc. I just sold it today. I had it on for about 5 months. The power was good and never had any problems. I bought it for 2500 and installed it myself. It doesn't require any tuning, unless you start to add more boost and want more power.

Unfortunetly, the ep3's jrsc manifold has a design flaw. It can't run more than 5psi. If it does, you get some turbulance from the manifold and it hesitates at around 7rpm. JR knows about this, and so does hondata. I chose not to wait for the supposed fix...new manifold....and sold it as I'm going turbo.

I had 192whp and 153wtq with the 7psi and the hesitation I had at higher rpms was just not worth it to me anymore. It was like hitting a brick wall at certain higher rpms. I had hondata kpro and had it tuned, there was no way around it. Doug from hondata knows about it. He's trying to work with jr and get this fixed.

So, stick with 5psi and don't expect to go any more than that. I wanted more power, so turbo was the way for me.

While I had it, the best I could do was a 14.8@92mph...versus the 15.3@89mph I had with i/h/e. Not exactly breath taking, but oh well, it was better than nothing at the time.
