Default Intake Manifold Problems. I Need HELP!

I was putting on the Hondata gasket and the intake manifold broke. The top right corner just busted off, and now there is a nice hole in the runner. Has anyone here had the same problem happen, or have it break in any other manner? I dont see how it could have busted like that. Maybe it just had a flaw in the manifold? What do you think.

When I was putting the Hondata IMG with the K20A IM on the A2, I over torqued it, and ended up having a small crack on the manifold. Sorry to hear that.

you should be able to find a replacement manifold pretty cheap since some ppl have changed to the ITR manifold.

14ft lbs, thats it. That could easily be over torqued. I was putting on the Hondata heatshield gasket when it happened. The studs were not even in yet and pow

Sorry to hear that. The torque wrench is your friend...believe me! Eventually you'll be able to "know" what 14lbs feels like..etc. Until then, use a torque wrench on everything.

the spec is actually 16 lb-ft, and you tighten them incrementally in 3-4 steps so that the whole manifold gets tightened slowly and evenly... starting with the inner bolts and criss-crossing your way to the outer ones

Is that how all intake manifolds have to be tightened down or just the k20s?

Every manifold I've ever torqued down I've done it in steps...
