importing '06 civic type-r from uk-us? (help pls!)
hello everyone, i need your help please!
im a u.s. soldier currently deployed to kuwait, ill be in baghdad in a little over a week. my unit and myself are based out of Darmstadt, Germany the 32nd Signal Battalion (choking chickens lol), anywho. im a huge honda fan, i loved my '91 CRX Si, i had to sell it sadly when I was stationed in germany. Im saving all my money from my tour in the middle east to purchase a 2006 Civic Type-R from the UK. I want one from the uk instead of Germany for the RHD. Im originaly from Phoenix, Arizona back in the states.
Ive been searching and searching for information about bringing one of these cars back into the states, but i cant find any info! ive even emailed Honda and some uk dealerships and shipping company's over there, but either they dont reply or dont know of what im talkng about.
what i need to find out is, what needs to change on the uk model to fit the usdm safety standards so that i can import it into the states. im not sure what the standards are over in the uk, but im pretty sure that it needs to have shatterproof windshields, a catalytic converter, working bumpers and some other stuff.
if you have any information on what id need to do to make this happen, and if possible someone who i could contact that i could goto for the services so that i can get some quotes id be so appreciative!

I canīt help you with the import issues but if youīre planning to buy a brand new CTR, no matter if itīs LHD or RHD you should hurry as Honda stopped the production of the EP3s recently.

I remember reading about this in a mag so just for you, I went back and look for the mag that had information on importing vehicles..
It was Import Tuner mag June 2005 issue#075 just in case you want to buy it and check it out...
