Default Hondata Flash

I have a stock type s ecu and I'm trying to trade with someone who has a flashed one. When I recieve the flashed ecu how can I tell that it has been flashed and that I'm not getting scammed?

only speaking from a flash ecu of an EP, we'd notice a higher rev limiter for starters. and from a specs point of view, we'd have to do before and after dynos. it looks like hondata claims to raise the rev limiter on the rsx-s to 8600... that could be the first sign to knowing it has been flashed. hth...

Vtec will be at 5200 although you won't hear the vtec crossover anymore like you did before and the extended rev limit to 8600 rpm which is about 8800-9000 on the tach.

I know what they do to it when it is flashed I'm saying that on the outside the physical appearance what differences can I look for? Or if I took it apart and looked inside is their anything that would differ from flashed compared to stock.

The ECU will look exactly like yours. Nothing is put on it to show that it was flashed by hondata. Just hook it up and see what happens.

even if the reflashed ecu had stock vtec and stock rev limiter, you should feel a significant pull below 4000rpm. and if you lose your vtec hit sound (asuming u have an intake) at 5800, means it's definitely reflashed.
