you say the 05's are much closer the an R. But all the things that you have listed can be easily replaced. and we also dont have to money to spend on a brand new car. I was thinking used...

One of my friends said that his friend bought a 05 rsx-s from the dealer with a built engine by toda. I just laughed in his face. And the guy dynoed 343 naturally aspirated.

But the thing is if you were to by an 02 type-s and buy all that stuff that makes them different and then put it in yourself you might have well bought an 05. Just add it all up, plus I didn't mention everything, just some of the stuff off the top of my head. But, you can do all that stuff and just do each thing one at a time, make it a project. But like I said, you're better off just getting the 05. The 02s aren't cheap enough yet to make up for the difference in the prices of the mods. Just my $.02 Oh and the 05s have a warranty to cover the parts.

you can get a 02-04 for about 15g's. while 05's are 20+ g's. there's actually one selling on here for like 16 with a greddy kit. The only thing i worry about is how the previous owner might have treated it.

will most definately be better then a 05 IMO. hehehe

but i guess its up to whatever you want, and i personally like the 02-04 body styling better and there are more aftermarket parts. But if there is a good deal on an 05 i'll be sure to keep it in mind.

i had the same decision. i was fortunate to have my mom give me the option of a used dc2 or a brand new dc5. you can call me a mommas-boy, but i wanted things to be easier on my mom, so i started searching for a used gsr or ls (ls vtec baby!). i showed my mom the short list of gsr's and ls's i found. surprisingly, she took me straight to an acura dealership and bought me an 04 rsx.

personal taste. if you want luxury, hands down go for the dc5. personally, i would get the dc2, get that jdm conversion you wanted, slam it, and slap on some volks. either that or buy a used s2000. up to you
