To buy or not to buy!
I am lookin at an 02 Ep3 with 79k miles. The asking price was 8k. The interior is mint and exterior paint is rust free and mint. The problems with the car is it needs all 3 front/rear visors, headlights need buffed, driver door unlock does not work. needs front brakes. And the idle is rough. i drove it with no problems on the clutch/tranny. it just idles odd. the owner claims it has never did that before and the car has been sitting for over a year and says it is the gas. Car also comes with a ricey looking full wings west bodykit paint matched taffy white and has 4 no name rims with new tires. full magnaflow exhaust. momo pedals, and is lowered 2 inches off the top of my head. i worked it down to 7k hoping for 6500. is 7k a good deal?

Probably 7K. Check Kelley Blue Book and go from there. Might just need an idle relearn. Why was it sitting for a year though?
P.S. Most people swap the engines anyway, so that body should be your main concern. Also, Are you sure you want an EP3? Modding gets expensive really quickly, and parts are often hard to find. They're great cars, and I absolutely love mine. But they can be a bother.

The story was its time to grow up. he got married and tried to sell for 8. Its been there for a year and a few looked at it he said but never came back. Kbb in good condition was 6600. the idle made me nervous but it seems to have been kept in meticulous shape. excellent was 7100. and honestly besides the rims and this idle i would have gave it excellent. i was just looking on some input. and yeah i love the style of ep3s and the fact nobody in southwest pa has them. thats a huge deal to me.

From what you described, I'd say deal it down more if you can, as low as the seller's willing to go. Worst you gonna get is NO. LOL.
IMO, miles seem reasonable, especially w/ no major exterior damage/wear. As for the idle issue, could just need an oil change and tune up(timing, valve adjustment, etc.). For the door, prolly need an actuator which isn't that expensive from dealer or oem part online stores. The suspension, you might have some issues if it's been slammed for long time; blown strut, bad camber, and bad alignment and such (but may be okay).
I'd just make sure that idle issues taken care of or at least use that as your barganing chip. And make sure the clutch/tranny is good, because a3 tranny has known issues with 3rd/4th gear synchros and throwout bearing. And at that mileage, unless the clutch has been replaced, you're gonna need to do it in near future.
And YES, as RasHondasDriver said, it does get pretty pricey when it comes to modding out EP3's. GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: To buy or not to buy!
Thanks man. I test drove it and for 80k it def felt the clutch had been replaced, it was awesome. Didn't slip and there was no grinds. I'll probably look around for a week or so see whats out there. After seeing the shape inside/out i'm not sure if i could find better it would be hard to beat. But anyways thanks for the advice, seller is supposed to contact me if the fuel was bad causing the idle to jump.

money does talk... if you show up with say 6.5k in your hand they're more likely to take what you have than if you just keep talking... just a thought
