Thanks for all the help guys. Ordered the ELD last night for $20 and the VTEC Spool Valve for $75 today. I'll let you know how it goes when I get parts and install them.

Well my OBD2 to USB cable came in along with my ELD relay. Scanned with PCMscan and all the same codes that autozone found came up. Was just making sure it worked. Anyway I replaced the ELD and my p1298 code is gone! Going to do the o2 when the snow melts. Still waiting on my VTEC solenoid. Hopefully it comes today.

So... how did it all turn out with this? My car loses power randomly starting last night and today I was able to get the CEL. Pulled the code and it is a P2646

I would like to know if you fixed that code and what you did. I need to get this fixed before it causes other problems.

If the oil level is full, and you have a code P2646 or P2647, replace the VTEC oil pressure switch on the VTEC spool valve. If you have a code P1259, replace the entire VTEC spool valve.

If you have any other codes, post them here.
Hey targa I'm having the same problem as this guy and I got code p1259 and you had said replace the whole spool valve and I was wondering if I have that code and is doing the same thing do I have to replace the entire vtec solenoid spool valve? Is the whole unit bad if I get that code? P1259 vtec malfunction code. Thxs for your help, much appreciated!

I'm having the same issue. It rained hard today and I made sure not to go to deep but I'm suspecting it has to do with vetch since it kicks in at 4K I need to solve this fast

2002 Honda Civic 7th Gen Model ES 1.7 litre manual.
My problem was the car engine cut out randomly on extremely hot days with engine light illuminated on dash.
After 2 minutes it would start normally with no engine light but then cut out again after a few minutes.

Eventually after much research I traced it to a faulty TDC Sensor (Camshaft Sensor) which was failing due to heat.
I replaced the sensor and have not had the problem again for 10000 kms.

Hope this helps someone as it was a very frustrating intermittent fault.
