Default 05 Civic SI EP3 engine with rod knock

Hi guys, i got a 05 Honda CIvic SI EP3 that has rod knock currently so i'm assuming it needs a new engine. From my research its a K20A engine, I found a place online that sells JDM engines that they claim have no more than 65k miles on them, its $600 shipped to my door, i was wondering if anyone had any experiences with buying engines online? this is the direct link to the product here , would i be able to drop this into my car as a plug n play?

thank you

Should be a plug and play, check their reviews, if your satisfied with them, go for it.

Looking it up, it appears the K20A was JDM only, the 2002-2005 Civic Si appears to have received the K20A3, significantly less power. your ECU will not run the JDM K20A properly. The compression difference will be more than the ECU can handle and the fuel maps are built for the 9.8:1 CR not the 11.5:1 high performance engine. Even your intake manifold isn't tuned for the JDM engine.

K20A
2001–2006 Honda Civic Type R (JDM) 11.5:1 212 hp (158 kW) @ 8000 RPM149 lb⋅ft (202 N⋅m) @ 7000 RPM8400 RPM6000 RPMPRC

2001–2006 Honda Integra Type R (JDM) 11.5:1 217 hp (162 kW) @ 8000 RPM152 lb⋅ft (206 N⋅m) @ 7000 RPM8400 RPM8600 RPM6000 RPMPRC

2002–2008 Honda Accord Euro R (JDM) 11.5:1 217 hp (162 kW) @ 8000 RPM152 lb⋅ft (206 N⋅m) @ 6000 RPM8400 RPM6000 RPMRBC

2007–2011 Honda Civic Type R (JDM) 11.7:1 221 hp (165 kW) @ 8000 RPM159 lb⋅ft (215 N⋅m) @ 6100 RPM8600 RPM5800 RPMRRC

K20A3
2002–2006 Acura RSX 9.8:1 160 hp (119 kW) @ 6500 RPM141 lb⋅ft (191 N⋅m) @ 4000 RPM6800 RPM2200 RPM[2]

2002–2005 Honda Civic Si 9.8:1 160 hp (119 kW) @ 6500 RPM132 lb⋅ft (179 N⋅m) @ 4000 RPM6800 RPM2300 RPMPRB

2002–2005 Honda Civic SiR 9.8:1 160 hp (119 kW) @ 6500 RPM132 lb⋅ft (179 N⋅m) @ 4000 RPM6800 RPM2300 RPM

2002–2005 Honda Civic Type S 9.8:1 160 hp (119 kW) @ 6500 RPM132 lb⋅ft (179 N⋅m) @ 4000 RPM6800 RPM2300 RPM

Hello, thanks for the reply, i'm not sure if you clicked the hyper link, but the engine says 02-04 ACURA RSX (BASE) 02-05 HONDA CIVIC Si 2.0L i-VTEC ENGINE JDM K20A K20A3. I dont believe its the type R engine you're talking about. but let me know if i'n wrong.

Thank you

Yeah, seems wikipedia may be incomplete. Your site also has the K20A type R and it looks like my K20Z3 in design while your K20A looks like the CRV K24 motor so is very likely your replacement motor.

I also noticed they have a B20 listed cheap and state low compression. So it appears they compression test and will indicate if it's low in the ad.
