Default 02 si missfire..

I have an 02 si k20a3 was my son's .. he went to pass a guy on the highway at pretty much full throttle when he back shifted from 5th he missed 4th and hit 2nd obviously it over reved real bad.. it through a check engine light instantly it still runs but rough I put the scanner on it and it's throwing misfire codes for all cylinders and also a random missfire code.. everyone I've talked to thinks it jumped timing skipped a tooth or something... any thoughts please..

You'll get better response int he DC5/EP3 specific forum, but I'll help here anyways.

Yes, it sounds like timing skipped or at the very least the chain stretched. Replace the chain, guides, and tensioner, then check compression to make sure it didn't also effect valves.

thank you..I've seen after market tensioners should I use one of these im planning on putting work into it at some point.. some things I've read say OEM tensioner is garbage..

OEM tensioner is the weak point of the entire engine. Skunk2 and hybrid racing among others make upgraded models with stronger springs and larger ratcheting teeth. Other than the tensioner, OEM chain, front and rear guides, and the upper guide (I recomend from an 09 Si K20Z3, it's wider than stock keeps the chain in check better) would be the other parts you'll need.

It would also do you well to check oil pressure, make sure the pump and it's chain are ok. Should be 70+ PSI on start up
