update on that nsx
hey guys , that nsx is here today at the sale and ready to go through.
the only thing that bugs me is the rear 1/4 panel has been repainted.
what do you think about that?

Re: update on that nsx
nope , that wasn't me.. i backed out at 35.
the car was fully repainted and was a little edgy. but it was an alex zinardi edition . only 50 of them made from what a friend is telling me...
big loss on my end for not buying it.
i just couldn't drop 40 grand on a car that was repainted completely..

I saw that one on Mannheim and it went down to 28k and topped out to 38kish. It's a true Zanardi but I don't think the wheels were stock and it was missing the front spoiler lip. It didn't look that bad but that's just the pics from the site.
Considering the model and a sale price of 38k, the car could be considered well bought - at auction anyway. But I don't think I could have bought it sight unseen. That's a tough one.

or, could be that they needed to yank the frame back out and resistence spot replacement bodywork.
hard to tell.

How did everyone see this auction, wasn't it closed to the public? I wouldn't of spent 40 on it. I would spend another 5k and get this:

Re: update on that nsx
- fully repainted . the top was a different color red compared to the body.
- the bolts holding the rear 1/4 panel on were mismatched and worn down from previous removal.
-all the vin number stickers were missing from the front fenders to the rear panels , so they either painted over them or the panels were replaced.
- the original bbs rims edition rims that came with the car were replaced by hre's.\
- the back driver side had a high reading of bondo/fiber glass material when a paint meter was placed upon it , therefore telling me it was hit and worked on in some way
- the four dimple marks in the door jam from the oem stock tack welds were not there on the passenger side , so when fixing it they used bondo material over it during the repair
- all the window moldings were white and worn out
- rear tail light was broken
- they sold the car red light " as - is " , along with " lowered , frame as - is " . so if the car has frame damage or was in a serious accident , you could not arbitrate it .
- I never heard a stock acura motor but this one sounded like a subaru motor , it might have been missing but with the as - is placed upon it , your buying the motor as- is
after all of this running through my mine I didn't have the ***** to go passed 35 grand . even when I was bidding , other dealers were looking at me shaking their head saying " it's an edgy car , it's not worth it ".
like the post mentioned above .
I rather spend 15 grand more and buy an nsx from a private party with all the papers and documentation that comes with the car , knowing the history of the car to put your mind at ease rather than owning a car that was repainted and having you think what it went through...
do you guys agree?

I cant think of any other way it would work since reflective properties should be the same regardless.

it is a magnet. it reads the density of the paint to the metal base of contact , steel or aluminum . these tools are used by dealers that buy high end cars , ferrari's , bentleys , lotus , majority of exotics . All cars from the factory with oem paint have a paint spectrum of say .2 - .7 . When it gets into the teens or mid 20's it's telling you that there is some type of substance or material between the layer of paint to the underlying metal surface.
don't quote me on the .2 - .7 , it could be .02's - .07's...
anything in the teen's or twenties means work has been done ... it's a real cool device.

they probably have accounts or are dealers , they can watch it over a live feed on their computer . it's called simulcast.
the guy who bought the car did it over his computer . I hope he's not upset when he see's it in person. the car is down here in san diego and he's up in washington...

Re: update on that nsx
Sounds cool but I think I would have to see it work on an aluminum car before I would believe it is not easily fooled. The NSX isn't very magnetic. I would also think that people repairing high end cars would use high end bondo (which contains metal/aluminum). Never knew suck a devise existed interesting. What is the name and model I'd like to look it up.

Re: update on that nsx
I don't know if the device can read all types of metals or surfaces , but it's designed for cars. The guy allowed me to look at his reader as he tested every panel on the car . there still would be no way to determine if the car was hit or not unless I could remove each panel and do an in depth inspection.
