NSX keys getting expesive?
I lost a set of keys. A $325 RR key ouch!! and my NSX key. So I looked on sleazebay for a replacement and they want $98 for the plastic key. They state the key is becomming rare. Anyone have problems getting new keys. I called the Acura dealer and ordered one for $16.
Keys are getting stupid expensive, its getting to the point you could hold them for ransom haha you could easily be carrying a $1000 around in your pocket depending on the cars you own.

$325??? Huh???
If you have a '96 or earlier NSX, you can use the key from any Honda/Acura vehicle, which costs around $10-15 (the official Acura part for the NSX lists for $15), or you can get blanks for a few bucks from your local locksmith. The monel (titanium-look) metal key for those years lists for $110 (part number 35113-SL0-A11).
The '97 and later NSX uses the key with the immobilizer chip in it. List price is $41.85 (part number 35113-SZ3-A03). The gray one is the same price (part number 35114-SZ3-A02).

I think you misread my post the $325 key was a Range Rover key. Damn RR dealer is a rip off no matter what you buy from them. A smart person goes to the BMW dealer and orders the same parts for 1/2 the cost. I checked sleazebay the night I lost my keys to get a general idea of what the NSX platic key was gonna cost me and found only one person selling these keys, for $98 each reporting that they are somehow rare and hard to get. I called my local Acura dealer and was able to order one for $16. So I came on here to see if anyone has had a hard time getting these keys to justify the $98 price tag on sleazebay.
Acura dealer called me today to come pick up my key so it doesn't seem like they are hard to get yet.

Re: NSX keys getting expesive?
I bought a monel key from SOS last year when I heard they were becoming fairly rare. Matter of fact, I don't think I've started my NSX with it.

Actually, I figured out you weren't talking about an NSX key. But I thought the "RR key" was for your Rolls Royce. But what is the key? Just a standard metal key with a rubber head? Like you could buy at a locksmith? That price sounds like it would just tick off any owner who needed one. Oh well.

Re: NSX keys getting expesive?
Key for my EP3 Si was like 60 bucks cut and programmed. It uses the immobilizer key also. Sorry to cut in on your talk of keys for bad *** cars but I was just throwing in my two cents.

Re: NSX keys getting expesive?
The Acura dealer cut my NSX key and it didn't work. They then tried to say my ignition was worn out. I politely informed the parts guy while my car may be a 94 it has 50k miles on it. Why can't people just admit they screwed up and then fix the problem? Why must a dealer always dance around the problem and try and lay blame on the customer? They are ordering me a new key and going to try again.
