Default Gordo Murray- On the NSX

Amazing to read how the NSX lent inspiration to the creation of the McLaren F1.

cool article man, i never would have guessed the nsx was the main inspiration to the f1. too bad honda never made the engine, would have been an interesting path for them to take

very cool. i love reading and hearing his ideas. i wonder what will come after the caparo t1, besides that little ultralite and ultraefficient econobox thing...something mind blowing i suppose.

As he says though he couldn't convince them to build a V10 or V12 engine for the car that's why they opted for the BMW engine. It's not that they couldn't stick with the style, it's that Honda wouldn't make something to the specs they were looking for.

I would never have thought the Mclaren would have had inspirational ties to the NSX.

Can anyone explain to me who the guy in the Article is? Is he a designer? Does he have large stakes in McLaren?

I always thought the compliance pivot was a interesting design, but I never new how well it worked. It looks like it allows for longitudinal movement but somehow doesn't change the toe in the process. Pretty ingenious, does anybody know more about it?

Check out the NSX Technical Information and Development History book. Pages 34-35 is what you're after.

BTW: In case anyone is wondering, Gansan@nsxprime did the translation.
