Clarion Builds 1991 Acura NSX Revealed
Clarion used the occasion of the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to reveal its next completed Clarion Builds project car, a 25-year-old Acura NSX with almost a quarter million miles on the odometer. The finished version was posted up in the foyer of the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino for the duration of the trade show (just a stones throw from the Las Vegas Convention Center), and as far as corporate-backed builds go it came out pretty nice.
Since an official press announcement hasn't yet landed in our inbox, we’re mainly just working from social media, but the once-Berlina black mid-engine coupe is now a blue shade of BASF Glasurit paint. We gather the body makeover was performed by Diamond Hills Collision Center, and from the project’s page on the Clarion site it looks like a bunch of carbon fiber exterior parts were sourced from either Science of Speed or Downforce, or possibly even both.
At all four corners are bronze Volk Racing ZE40 rims shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 stickies, and at least up front there appears to be StopTech binders replacing the NSX’s OEM brake calipers; we also know from the list of project sponsors there is likely KW suspension deeper in the wheel well. Around back the 3.0-liter V6 power plant that is native to the car was kicked to the curb for the greater displacing C32 that came in later NSX, and sitting atop it is a Comptech supercharger. The NSX specialists at AutoWave performed the swap and engine work.
Last August we learned of the Clarion Builds NSX, and as per the program’s stated goals the 20th century supercar was brought into the 21st century with fresh electronics, engine, suspension, and other mods while staying true to its original design and driving dynamics; in May of 2015, the campaign’s first project was revealed to much acclaim, a 1974 BMW 2002. You can visit the Clarion Build's website for more updates and video about this NSX’s road to resurrection.

Re: Clarion NSX
Not bad at all. I like the purpose and intent of their work. Too many owners turn their NSX into body kitted hack jobs. Thanks for sharing, coop.
FWIW, that NSX mechanics mat is worth a fortune for some reason. Scarcity, I guess.

The mats are fairly robust: thick, heavy, and plastic. Some vendor makes a replica of it too now.

Re: Clarion NSX
I like how they saved and re-build an iconic car.
So many people who buy these cars dont take care of them. As mentioned, they turn into hack jobs.
Ive seen my share of NSX's banged up and mis-treated. If I could own one, I sure would try and re-build it and restore it (while adding updated feature like coilovers, audio, etc..)
EDIT: Heres a vid of it on the track.
