Re: When to do valve adjustment (ITR764)
So what's the risk of not doing it? Obviously, you could bend a vavle if they are that out of whack, but realisticly, is it just missed performance?

Re: When to do valve adjustment (Floyd)
poor performance & although small you are increasing the amount of force that impacts the top of the valve springs/stem when the cam lobe comes around...
Look at it this way...each time you want your spring to open, you have to tap it with a hammer. The more "loose" they get, the more higher you are raising that hammer before hitting the valve stem. I can't tell you a definative amount of "damage" that you will be causing - nothing catastrophic tho...
Batoutahell has a jrsc on his R & when we finally checked his valves, they were almost all at ~.305-.330mm for intake and exhaust. That's ~2X the valve lash. When you are paying to boost the intake & then finding you aren't even opening the valves as much {therefore as long} you kinda scratch your head & promise the Honda Gods not to wait so long next time.
Hope that helps...

Re: When to do valve adjustment (yoshi234)
Dumb question: what kind of noises would the engine make if the valves were out of adjustment? Just wondering because i bought my car with 18k miles on it and dont know if they have ever been adjusted! It now has 23k. Thanks.

Re: When to do valve adjustment (Floyd)
You just lose performance if you do not do it is all. I did them every 15,000 miles. Your back will be sore from leaning over the car but it's not that hard to do.

Re: When to do valve adjustment (figment)
Mine is at 20K now.. and the last time we went Dyno, mine is still ok..(158WHP@Mustang should be pretty normal for a stock ITR)... so I guess the Valves is still ok.
I'll wait until Aleph and all other fellow Rs in Pittsburgh do a 'Group Valve adjustment' day... then my R will be adjusted. HeHe..

Re: When to do valve adjustment (Yellow Submarine #00-0675)
I have the Acura Integra 2000 Owners Manual open right here in front of me, and on page 164, under maintenance schedule for severe conditions, it says to adjust before 105K only if noisy. If you like, I can scan it in...
1. They had me pull forward and park.
2. A few minutes later, a tech guy comes inside my car, start the engine, pop the
hood, listened to my engine.
3. He told me the car is okay, go home, adios, sayonara, Anyway, he basically said to bring it back when the engine gets noisy.

Re: When to do valve adjustment (Floyd)
I did not have/use Hondabond when I did mine...I replaced the valve cover gasket... no leaks as of yet.
I reused the bolt gromets... once I get some more mileage on them I will replace...
FYI they are expensive items.

You can use RTV silicone on there instead of hondabond....

Yep. They are expensive. You know what sux? I think the GSR valve cover gasket set is $9 while the Type R set is $40

Re: When to do valve adjustment (In7egrity)
First, hondabond is not really necessary as well as the gasket. I use Permatex Copper ****,, works great and cheap.
Can someone please post the specs for a 01 ITR intake cam lash settings. I am currently running a CTR intake cam on my 00 Si, which is the same as the 01 ITR. Thanks in advance!
