vortech supercharger
Hey, I am really interested in buying the Vortech supercharger system for my ITR. The kit is originally made for the GSR, but was wondering if it would saftely bolt onto my ITR.

Re: vortech supercharger (foreverjenn)
do you want a dyno queen cause that's all you'll get with the vortech kit....what the hell good is 300whp if it's at redline

like this one??
it looks badd *** but looks like a nightmare to work on. i think you also have to tap into the oil pan....but dont quote me on that.

Ha! Try changing the alternator on a JRSC'd b series motor

No, the ITR/Si(R) kit DOES NOT bolt up to the GSR, remember they have different deck heights.

I agree. Its more expensive then a Greddy Turbo kit. Its a waste to me.
Its the halway point between a SC and a turbo. Just spend less money and get a Greddy kit and be happy with an easy 230-240 hp @ the wheels (I don't know how much power a vortech ITR makes but I can't see it being past that.).

Re: vortech supercharger (Black R)
ok, how about SC on an ITR = ******* slow. Happy?
I would turbo my R before I SC'd it...and anyone who knows me knows how much I love turbos on Rs

.....I dunno, I've wondered if a blower would be a better bolt-on solution than the allmotor route I've taken. I can't think of a better way to get low-end torque on a ff 4banger... Now for peak power, of course a turbo is gonna be pulling hard! But for the average guy, a setup like mike marsey's wouldn't be too bad to go chasing z06's with.....

Re: vortech supercharger (Ross)
Now I'm not going to say that the jrsc makes the itr "fast," but a properly tuned jrsc will make more power than most NA Type R's, and a great deal more power than a stock R. If you choose to call that f#cking slow, it makes me wonder what you think is the proper adjective to describe the power your R makes.

Anyone have a JRSC dyno chart? Interested to see where torque is made.
Vortechs for all cars produce their power up top - you won't see much, if any gains below 4 grand. Actually discussed this over lunch with my Mustang buddy. Even on 'Stangs, they make peak up near redline.

Edit: On 5.5 psi

but FWIW it made 145 torque to the wheels from 2000rpm till the VTEC switch, after that it make 150 all the way to redline.
Not too shabby

Re: vortech supercharger (Splat)
Had a little discussion with Steve about boosted Rs last night.
After some nominal boost level, the next few psi provide(s) substantially more power and torque.
Say 8 psi vs. 12 psi My RX-7 tt friend says it's supposed to be exponential!

Re: vortech supercharger (TurboITR)
here's a JRSC type R dynoplot. Stock internals with 8psi.
(the line smoothing is on "0" to give a more accurate reading, hence the bumpyness of the curve.)
The power reads 261.59whp and the trq reads 182.13trq. Nuff said.
Car ran a 12.5 @110mph with it misfiring (bad sparkplugs) and the power read 230whp with it misfiring on the dyno. Cars weight 2650lbs with driver, oh yeah MT slicks on stock R wheels. Just by looking at the trapspeed and that it still had 30whp more with it not misfiring, the car would have hit a low 12sec to a high 11sec run. Not bad for stock type R internals, 8psi JRSC, MT slicks on stock R wheels, and 2650lbs with driver.
