Valve guides or valve seals?
In relation to oil consumption, is it the valve guides or seals that go bad and possibly need to be replaced? I havent done the leakdown yet but plan to very soon and Im *hoping* this is where the problem lies. Compression numbers look good.

Re: Valve guides or valve seals? (RTW DC2)
Probably rings, and not anything valve related if it's typical of most other ITRs. Mine compression checks fine too, but gulps around 2-3 quarts per oil change. There was an analysis and explanation of this problem several months ago in this forum.
One of the signs was to check you oil say a few hundred miles after an oil change. It would normally look like honey or still golden brown, but with failing rings it should get dark much quicker.
