USDM ITR To Japan for Weight Reduction/Engine Mod...
For those who sent their cars to Japan for weight reduction and engine mods, can you provide a list of weight reduction items that get your car's weight down to well under 2k pounds?

Contact Yasu at ATS USA in my sig. Not sure if his car is back yet but for certain he sent it over and had it tuned and worked on by J's racing and ATS.

I have never seen anyone on HT that "sent " their car to japan for weight reduction and engine mods, but i dont know everyone. I have seen plenty of DIY weight reduction and 8/10 posts on this board include engine mods.
Weight Reduction Mods:
replace all exhaust components with aftermarket
remove rear wiper
replace rear deck and hood with carbon fiber
lighter wheels
remove carpet/interior
Wont even start on engine mods...

Yeah his Civic Si was built, tuned and weight reduced a few years ago, it is back.
His Integra Type-R was sent over for the same treatment and from what I remember It weighs less than 1900 lbs or around about but am not sure if he had it shipped back yet. Both cars are ATS/J's factory sponsored cars running in the US.
The Cibic:
SCCA class SPU
And link to specs: http://www.a-t-s-usa.com/photos/civic-new.shtml
Says it weighs 1930 and has 218 whp
And the Integra Type-R:
Class TBA
And the link to specs: http://www.a-t-s-usa.com/photos/DC2-new.shtml
Says it weighs 1880 lbs and puts down 200whp.
There are loads of pics in the links above on his site, That also was the same civic he brought to last years Expo.
His Type-R is also seen in a Movie about Limerock park.

You never know, some of us may sell the cars to get the money...wait, we then won't have our cars to send to Japan. On a serious note, I'm interested to see what kind of weight reduction that was done in Japan that can be done here for cheaper offcourse.

If you take a close look at the pics and information provided in the links above I'm sure you can get at least a basic idea but for the exact specs of what was removed and whatnot you'd need to contact Yasu himself throught he ATS website above or in my sig.
Just fyi both of those cars are obviously fully caged so removing parts for the saving of weight is a non issue. But for a street car, removal of the same items may be both illegal and dangerous. Those above cars are track only cars with no hope of any street legality so no need to meed DOT or state safety and emissions.
I know for certain that the doors, hatches and hood on the civic are paper thin fiberglass resin. You could literally poke a hole through them with your finger.

As opposed to the non-literal meaning of that sentence?

Thanks for pointing out the facts about legality because it can be easily overlooked.

that teg is bomb ***, they even put some sort of aluminum ugly green valve cover to save weight. not alot of things have been overlooked on that car. altough you can tell they are competitors of mugen cuz they didn't include any of the're parts even if it could have meant that mugen's could have been a better intake choice or a hondata setup or whatnot (not trying to flame the j's intake, i'm only making as point.)

Re: USDM ITR To Japan for Weight Reduction/Engine Mod... (1GreyTeg)
On the integra the wheel and suspension setup is
F18K, R16K
Front 16-8.0, Rear 15-7.0
30 way adjustable shocks
What are the dimensions of the sway bars?
What are the benefits of the 16x8 in the front? front stiff...i'm assuming the rear sway bar is thicker to provide a more neutral ride?

Re: USDM ITR To Japan for Weight Reduction/Engine Mod... (mamaboy)
that is dreams come true.. i wish i could own a track car like that and have the connections to ship it to Japan where a top Honda tunner can custom build you a one off race car.. that has to be one of the most rare and nicest track event cars i have ever seen.. i would love to have that kind of $$ to bang around with!!!
