toda b spec people...

just wondering, i've had my b's for a while- and everyday in the morning i have to sit in my car and listen to this noise in my engine- sort of rattly-type sound. i am wondering now if it is the cams or maybe something else? its becoming pretty annoying and started happening after i added the headwork.

Check your oil level..and set your valve lash to .20mm....and while you're doing that, check for anything that might be loose and causing that sound. Spec Bs are a lot bigger than stock cams and you will notice louder valvetrain noise with them...so it's probably just those big cam lobes spinning around in there that you hear.

i also have the same noise.it sounds like loose change rattling around.once it warms up it goes away.i've done a valve adjustment and it didn't help.kenji did my install and he said all spec b's he has done had that noise.

its just valve tapping. the lobes are so steep. its normal. i think you were just imagining after you had your head done. unless they didn't do the seats properly. did you do a leakdown?

I had the same "problem" with them in my old car. It was very annoying and loud in the mornings. Hope you have better luck than I did in trying to sort it out http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/embeer.gif

Yea, Mike M.'s car had that same problem.
Installed JUN 3's tonight. Problem gone. Seriously, sounds like ITR cams when you start it and you can't tell how big the cams are. Idle is beautiful.

Might I also add, the car is a lot more "driver friendly" now. No more rough running, off-idle bog, etc.

Granted, this car was tuned properly. It was hitting 194.0 and 138.0 at the wheels. The car hauled ass. But I am saying this in all seriousness.. the JUN 3's are 100 times better in my opinion. Feels so much nicer and pulls just as hard up top, if not HARDER.

Hope I didn't open a can of worms. Anyway, regarding your noise dude, it's normal. No need to worry..

i was a firm Toda believer until about 4 hours ago.

the JUN 3's are set at +1 and +1 right now, and they FEEL like they pull just as hard, if not harder than the B's(which were fully tuned to 194 and 138). can't wait to dyno.... http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif

Does anyone have specs on how much whp Jun Type 3 cams put down with there hi compression pistons? I don't believe I've ever seen figures on the Type 3 in B18C..mostly all Toda items.

From what I heard it should make over 200whp. Thats what I was told when I talked to Jun about there custom engine setups.
