Synthetic motor oil
I did search. I just want to know if I can use synthetic motor on my ITR with 53K miles. I always bring my caR to the dealership for oil change. Now my car is here in Germany and I have to do oil change on my oil.

Re: Synthetic motor oil (pnoi_01dc2r)
Sure, full synth all the way ! I can recommend Liqui Moly 5w40 oder Mobil1 5w50.

Re: Synthetic motor oil (pnoi_01dc2r)
Sure you can. I recommend sticking with it though if you use it once.
|
Like everyone is saying, synth is the way to go. But do it right, once you switch to synth, stay with synth. In my case, its Mobil 1 from the first change at 3000miles...

Re: (iperez)
There is no proof that once you change to synthetic you have to stay. It is one of those rumors that have never been proven but continues to propagate.

Re: (davidnyc)
Mobil 5w30 Synthetic burns in my motors, NA or FI.
Castrol GTX 5w30 Non-Synthetic doesnt burn NEARLY as much as Mobil 5w30 Syn. |
Re: (migs)
mobil 1 synthetic... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I get oil consumption from mobil 1 on all of my cars when they get run in higher RPM ranges for a bit.
I've had great results with royal purple and AMSOIL, AMSOIL is top dog in my book, but its more pricy than the Mobil 1. |
Re: (Kiwibird83)
I'm using the Amsoil XL right now, good stuff. Might try out their series 2000 stuff in the future.
Being a rep and getting it at cost ftw. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |

http://images.corvetteforum.com/imag...ies/iagree.gif You can change - in either direction - whenever you like. Of course, you'll only get the benefits of synthetic when you're using it. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Kiwibird83 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I get oil consumption from mobil 1 on all of my cars when they get run in higher RPM ranges for a bit.</TD></TR></TABLE> I've found the same thing. I can see smoke from the tailpipe - IOW, burning oil - whenever I'm in the upper RPM on our 150K+ mile GS-R. |

Greetings from Holland!</TD></TR></TABLE> Please do NOT make up posts and attribute them to me. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif There is no such thing as Mobil 1 5W50. Not in North America, anyway. Furthermore, I would not use that viscosity in an Integra Type R. |

Re: (SOHC_me)
Available or not, 5W30 is what Honda states in their user guide. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: (tartje)
Can you mix synthetic with convention oil like Castrol GTX with Mobil 1??
It is for my gf's beater so not so big deal in oil choice. I just ran out of GTX and there is Mobil 1 laying around since this Geo tracker leaks so I need it to top it off. Modified by machgo5go at 3:50 PM 12/25/2006 |
Mobil 1 Syn with a Honda S2k Filter!

Re: (Doostur)
I have used the German Castrol synthetic for a couple years now, but with the change of formula I am thinking of a change for my track-only ITR.
Has anybody tried Motul 300v racing oil? It is very pricey, but it may be worth it with imporoved protection and longer change intervals. https://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg...._1925_36533046 http://ltbmotorsport.stores.ya....html |
Re: (Flux)
A friend of mine uses the 300 V Power (5w40) in his (nearly) track only R and he loves it.

Yes, you can. You'll wind up with a "synthetic blend", just like oil manufacturers also sell. You just won't get as much benefit the way you would with synthetic-only oil. |
