I "raced" one from a rolling start...not sure what mods he had, but he wasnt too far behind me. Id pull on him at the top end pretty easy.

AUSDM DC5R and AUSDM DC2 are pretty much even 1st and 2nd gear (assuming equal drivers) in which then the DC2 pulls ahead by at least half a car length.

The only let down for the AUSDM DC5R is that it rev limits at 8200rpm (tach reading which is inaccurate) and DC2 can go to an indicated 8700rpm-9000rpm.

But as we all know that OEM analog tach's are off!...

If you own a type-R, go to Acura-Honda Specialist down Stockbridge. Talk to Tom and he'll probably tell/show you the outcome in real life.

When I was stock I beat one at ATCO Race park he had a muffler and removed intake cover. I ran a 14.8 and he ran a 14.9 whew that was too close for comfort, thank God I run Low Low 14's now.

Me in a dealer RSX S demo with wider Kumho rubber and about 6k on the clock...
My wife in my ITR with about 10k on the clock...

Conversation after the wife and my R have handed me and the RSX s our *** straight and in the twisties... then we go for a ride in the RSX together:

Wife: "Kinda slow, do they make a turbo or supercharger yet...
Me: "not yet."
Wife: "it has a really nice interior though..."
Me: "want it?"
Wife: "no, I'll keep my GSR."(listed below)
Me: "ok."
Wife: "I'm hungry."
Me: "we'll drop this off and go get lunch."

I drove one it was pretty quick, although the other night I saw one race a Z24 Cavalier and they were dead even. It was kinda funny.

any real facts that ITR can beat RSX type-s....
i'm quite interest at what DCR5 say

" AUSDM DC5R and AUSDM DC2 are pretty much even 1st and 2nd gear (assuming equal drivers) in which then the DC2 pulls ahead by at least half a car length. "

many MOTOR magazine at AUS say the DC5R is a little quicker...

I raced a RSX type S with an intake on it. I had only an intake header and exhaust and I smoked him over 3 cars in lengh. We raced everytime from a diffrent gear. From first SMOKED from second rolling SMOKED and from 3rd rolling SMOKED. So ITR RSX-Type S SLOOOOWWWW

I test drove a RSX-S at the dealer recently that was used, had about 11k I think. I was really disappointed in the power...it definitely did not feel like a high 14-sec car like what has been published in magazines. Other than that, though, I thought is was pretty nice, seemed to handle well, great seats, cool interior, quiet, well put-together....but I wont be trading in my DC2 for one!

The Type R surely can beat a GSR (stock for stock). Why don't you guys ramble about how slow the GSR is?

the DC5S isn't supposed to compete with the Type R, the DC5R is. So you can't really compare the two and say that the type S sucks.

Also base cost to base cost, the Type S goes head to head with the Type R, not the DC2R.

yup you gotta read the post title...

anyways...it seems that nearly everytime i'm by a rsx-s the person it always wants to race (maybe it's a bay area cali thing???) ... so far i've raced 8 (4 of them with mods: intake, exhaust, and one with a ghetto rigged turbo) ... so far i've beat all of them even the turbo (i don't think he knew how to drive his car yet) ... 3 from standstill, 3 on the highway, and 2 through canyons. 2 of those i even had a full car!!! it's always about even through 1st and 2nd...then the R pulls strong from 3rd on...at least from my encounters.
personally i've driven the rsx-s and it just doesn't have that bang that the dc2r does...best comparison are those vids that were posted before as far as dc2r v. dc5r...

Sorry about that post - it wasn't me that said that, probably my brother...

I've read in a couple of magazines that the DC5R is supposed to be a little quicker. However my mate has raced a DC2R with exhaust and air filter (he had the same) the results were that the DC5R was ahead after 1 and 2nd gears (The DC2R had little traction...) but then at the end of third gear the DC2R was ahead by 1 car length...

Results for drag races vary...Some other guys in Sydney have seen both drag race on the strip and say both are equal. It's a driver's race I suppose. Personally I think the DC2R should come out on top - but not by much, assuming both drivers are roughly equal (probably by about 1 car max...)

Im more interested in how the DC5R performs against the DC2R on the track. Should have some results soon...

By the way which issue of MOTOR magazine are you talking about? I'd like to read what they have to say...

Cheers

Michael

I wouldn't consider Australian magazines a source worth quoting for acceleration times. I don't believe they've ever hit less than 15.1 or 15.2 for any Type R. One of the latest issues has mid 15s for an S2000 and the NSX at a low low 14.4

From what i've heard on ht i don't think the AUS DC5R is EXACTLY the same as the RSX-S (even performance wise), their comparisons have been shown a dozen times and i won't post them up again.

As for MOTOR... well

AUSSIE MAGS SUCK, they can't drive Honda's, simple as that.

Actually the Aussie 02 ITR is very different and yes I can't be bothered posting the differences either! . I agree with you guys about the magazine results.
