OEM Type R wing/spoiler from Japan
Hi everybody,
How can one tell if a Type R spoiler is a genuine OEM product? I just recently purchased one from eBay from a seller in Japan with a 100% feedback rating. I browsed through previous forum posts and some people suggested that genuine OEM wings have the word "Honda" embossed in them. However, my wing does not have this. Did all Type R wings have this embossing? My version is one without the brake light, if that matters, and it definitely doesn't feel like an aftermarket one. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Mike

AFAIK there is a Honda on the bottom where the bolts are. You should be able to see the texture or engraving of it if it's been painted over. I got one from japan as well and it says Honda there.

Ok, I inspected the wing more closely after reading your post. I found a small metal tag in the area just below the bolts (as you said) with Honda embossed on the top. There is some other text there that I can't make out. As you can see in the photos, this tag is present on both sides of the wing (it's just covered up by old gasket on one side in mine). I was looking for an embossment similar to the "Integra" on the OEM front bumper on the wing itself. This is probably why I missed the metal tag in my first inspection. Thanks for the reply.
