noob!! question..here it is b18c and b18c gsr

well i m lookin into buyin a itr teg, i saw one but supposely it has a usdm gsr head on a b18c block. My question is , is it a b18c gsr or b18c itr cuz it has itr mani on it too and on the head it saids p72 which is usdm head..right?? hit me up guys i need help with this crap. thanks

RagingAngel 12-08-2006 07:31 PM

Simply put, the B18C designation could mean both GS-R and ITR, because it is a JDM block and JDM blocks are only ID'd as B18C.

c-townekhatch 12-08-2006 07:34 PM

so what is it lol, some people on here know there stuff.

RagingAngel 12-08-2006 08:19 PM

you're missing the point.

Your guess is as good as anybody's at this rate.

The fact that the head is GS-R and the block is JDM means it's been taken apart and who knows what you're really getting.

You also mention the IM is from an ITR...so it really sounds like one shit mix of a motor at the moment.

c-townekhatch 12-08-2006 08:30 PM

yup very tru, the car pulls very strong though with no boggles or no problems at all...what do u think i should do ? go for it or just find another itr ...thanks for the help

Re: (c-townekhatch)

we don't know what your financial situation is, or how far you're willing to get an ITR...or even what condition this R is in, other than the strange motor.

when in doubt, trust your doubt.

Re: (RagingAngel)

ITR manifold will not fit on a GSR head...the bolt holes are different.

ITR + B16 = same
GSR = different

this is impossible...

an ITR manifold cannot fit on a P72 head

p72 head =GSR
PR3 head= ITR

Unless it is the 1st gen Skunk2 IM which looks exactly like the ITR IM.

then, thats his mistake...

he is telling us that theres an ITR manifold mated to a P72 head, which simply cannot be...

to the OP, to check that its an ITR manifold look for this marking:

I have an old copy of turbo magazine and one of the feature cars had a gsr head with an itr manifold on it. Now it did say that alot of modification was necessary to make it fit, so its not impossible, just highly unlikely that someone would do that.

Correct, it IS possible, so which is why I didn't rule out whether or not this motor could have had the same modification performed. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No.

Since we don't know the history nor origins of this motor, I was just entertaining all possibilities and options given what the OP was reporting.

An ITR mani on a GS-R head was something that was considered to certain Honda Challenge racers as the rules state that the intake manifold must be of OEM origin, and that was true to the best of my knowledge up till last season and I do not know if rules have been changed for H1 for 2007 https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

c-townekhatch 12-09-2006 05:25 PM

yea exactly, its a itr mani on p72 head ..why do yall think i asked yall that kno more bout itrs then i do...its p72 with itr mani , i thought it was skunk 2 but it aint ..the head is also port and polished with itr cams with skunk2 cam gears..thanks for everybody s input

actually the itr and b16 are slightly different, arent the injector angles different, and the ports a little bit larger, and the valve seats are also buffed

We were mainly referring to the IM fitment and not the actual differences of the IMs themselves.... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

go dyno it, if you end up not buying it you'll be out some $, but at least you didnt buy a car with a messed up motor.

jdm_dc_fan 12-10-2006 10:43 PM

check the CR and you will find out if it has p73 pistons. you dont wanna end up buying a jdm gsr with a S2 IM for the price of a type r https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif
