Next Mod for my R????
So I just picked up 96 Japanese spec ITR about 6 months ago and I've kept it fairly stock since I bought it as it's tons of fun out the box although I do find myself wanting more. So my biggest question is which route to go as I want to keep the car fairly simple and reliable but still have some "GO" to it for fun and also maintain it's value if I ever decide to part ways.
Option 1 - simple intake setup/toda rep header/ID injectors/4.9 FD/hondata s300 with a tune (simple and effective but I feel it won't be enough) Option 2 - GoAutoworks Kraftwerks B series supercharger kit with supporting fuel/s300 clutch etc (kit is easily removable to revert car back to stock... which is BIG in my eyes) Option 3 - Kswap…. highly unlikely due to the cost of the swap is well outside my budget unless I come across a great deal, almost most say it brings the value of the ITR down. I have a Integra GSR turbo with a little over 500hp so I don't think I need 2 turbo integras and I know the problems that come with the setups plus I like to keep the ITR's driving nature like an angry pissed off bumble bee you gotta rev the piss out of to have fun. |
Re: Next Mod for my R????
Option 1, hands down and you don't necessarily even need to upgrade injectors. The 4.9 alone will be SO much fun!

Gut everything that doesn’t have anything to do with safety and save them away, cold air intake for the sound, 4.9 fd for the quick up and go, and you will have what you want above. |

Not about that gutted life i'm not 20 years old anymore lol. I like my music and sanity to an extent it just sucks to go from a 500hp turbo car to a sub 170hp car they both have their purposes but I just want a lil more punch from the 170hp car since it's pretty much my daily now. |
Re: Next Mod for my R????
I feel like you have already answered your own question with the added text, "which is BIG in my eyes" in option 2.
Do what feels right for you |

do you have experience with a 4.9 FD? I'm open for reviews/feedback on the mod. I honestly want to upgrade the injectors for better drivability and mpg lol. Current mpg isn't the best

Re: Next Mod for my R????
I have a 5.0 FD on my ITR. It's fun to quickly run through the gears, but I personally don't think it's as fun as a supercharger or turbo would be (with any gearbox).
BTW, the FD came on my JDM K20A motor with a NTS3 gear box. Not sure who, if anyone, makes a 5.0 for a B series gearbox. IMO you should skip the FD and save up to boost. |
Re: Next Mod for my R????
You should probably just build it high compression and keep it n/a, to be different than your gsr.

Talking about age, I’m old enough to be a grandpa and my r is gutted with full race bucket seat. There are no excuses if you want an all out fun to drive caR 😎
