need helping buying a new clutch and suspension

i just got back from the drag strip and decided i need new suspension and clutch.
(i know ITR not drag car and so on but yeah...)

my car is JRSC and i think its time for a new clutch.

i am looking for something that isnt too stiff because i do drive this car quite often but it isnt my DD.

i want the clutch to be able to hold at least 400-500hp because i might be boosting my car in the future after i reach my goal of hitting 12's with my current setup which could be very soon after i get some new suspension. stock suspension isnt cutting it right now.

i tried looking in the FAQ and didnt find anything.

any suggestions would be great.

also im looking to get PIC coilovers but am not quite sure which spring rate to get or who to buy from. again i do drive this car often and do not want it to be very harsh.

the goals for suspension would be drag strip/DD and maybe in the future some auto X once a year if that.

thanks for all your help

Be careful with how aggresive you get with the clutch. It seems that the stiff to super stiff ones cause premature wear to the internal bearings of the transmission. I suspect the shock causes damage, but have no proof.
As for suspension, PIC is great but might not be the ideal Drag Racing setup.
Afaik you want super stiff in the rear to prevent weight transfer.

Without any doubt, call Al or Jim and talk to them. Very good people.

Great inputs.
I only have one thing to add. Base on your(OP) preference, keep the front suspension stock. Replace the rear with reputable full adjustable coil over. This way, you can dial in the stiffness when you drag race it and detune the stiffness for street driving. With this set up, you will save money, give the R the rear stiffness that it need for drag racing and at the same time help the R rotate a little better when you decided to autox it.

I have an Action 6 puck, I like it better than the ACT 6 puck that I used to have. The engagement is smoother and less violent.

How much power is the car making? What type of use does it predominantly see?

Rotate a little better? Geeze it would be like a pendulum. :scared: I would not use that suggestion, try to balance the car... somewhat.

Re: need helping buying a new clutch and suspension

Call the guys at PIC and ask... if you pay for overnight you will get it overnighted (if in stock)
for DD I'd stick with a softer spring rate (front8kg, rear 6kg), stiff compared to stock(Front - 4.4 kg/mm , Rear - 2.5~4.4 kg/mm) but should not get a nooby like you into any trouble.
BUT for drag racing, like I said stiffer in the rear is desired. CALL them and ask... but be honest with them so they can give the best advice possible.

Re: need helping buying a new clutch and suspension

ive done a little more researching. it looks like the PIC Apex D1 or P2 are the ones for me. improved straight line performance. will this help me in cornering as well or is there one that will help me with both?

i see that i cannot order the D1 from picperformance.com. anyone here on honda-tech a sponser and sell them or can direct me to someone that will?

thanks

Now if you look at their site...
http://picperformance.com/store/scri...?idproduct=194
or for all four corners like I mentioned...

talked to people at PIC. looks like im going with the Apex D2 setup which isnt as expensive as i was planning (1K thought to spend).

they were very insightful as all of you said.

maybe i will buy a clutch when i have some more money left over = /.

parts list without clutch puts me now at $1600. damn

I have been running an Exedy 3puck sprung disc. I especially like it for its lightweight and easy modulation. I know they are capable of 300 ft-lb tq or so. I don't know where that puts you in your HP goals, but that should be sufficient.
