NEED HELP - Getting new tires for my R

Hey guys.

As some of you know im in the process of rebuilding a 97 R. At the moment im looking at getting tires for it and not sure what i can fit without problems.

Info on car:
1997 ITR
JDM FRONT
17 Inch Rims
Will be lowered on Fully Adjustable HKS Kit (NOT slammed but tasteful)
No plastic wheel well covers

Ive had 17's on my other integras that were lowered with tires that were 205 40 R17. and with the kit adjusted had no problems with the tires rubbing. The only prob witht the 205'ss that the id like to have a bit larget of a profile... At the moment im looking at 215 45 R17's. I know they will fit with the car slightly lowered but im wondering if there will be rubbing issues.

Wanted to see if anyone else has 215 45 R17's on there R. Or know infomation that can help me out.

Any helpful imput would be great.
thanx ht
Jeff

Why do you want such a tall tire? A 215/45/17 is over 1" taller in diameter than the OEM tire. Get a tire that fits and you'll be able to run the plastic wheel well covers (I'm not sure why people like to run without these--seems kinda dumb).

This is part of the problem with 17" wheels and the ITR. Not a lot of really *good* tire choices in the proper diameter (plenty of choices, but most are crappy). That's why most folks stick with 15" or 16" wheels.

The reason for the 17's is cuz i have a set of ADVAN RG1's that are sick. I like the stock rims and tires but i also want the advans for road trips through the mountians and summer use...

Also i dont have the plastic wheel well covers because the half cut i bought didnt have them... so cant put on my car what i dont have....

I think he was asking why a taller 45 versus the shorter 40 sidewall for the 17" tire.

I would go with 215/40 or 205/40.

215/40 should be fine but the 45 on a 17 may be a problem.... and try to get some liners bro.. they come in handy.. and good luck with your choice:beer:
