Mugen vs. ATS LSD
I heard a lot of good things about both LSD, but which one ist the better choice for a track-teg (roadracing)?
I only know the mugen LSD, and it's realy nice, daily and on track. Anyone compared these two products and got experience with both of them? what would you guys recommend? |

Re: Mugen vs. ATS LSD (orca)
the latest lsd from ATS is the D20, which totally annilates the m00gen diff. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

what you must remember when buying a clutch type diff is ease of rebuilding. can you get the parts easy? that should of major concern when buying an aftermarket lsd. ATS is here in the states and rebuild parts are very easy to come by. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Re: Mugen vs. ATS LSD (BlueR)
Does ATS have a warranty similar to Quafie, or any warranty at all?

different type of diff?</TD></TR></TABLE> it's faster..... one of the benefits of a clutch type lsd is when you lift a wheel (rumble strips etc) with a oem or quaife lsd, the diff will freewheel, essentially stopping power transfer, and when it comes down, it can sometimes shatter the diff. clutch type transmits power to wheels all the time. also, you can dial in how much lockup you want, so it is adjustable. with a gear type diff (oem, quaife) you are stuck with whatever the manufacturer dictated in their design. if quiafe gave me a paid sponsorship, i would still rather run the ATS, as i feel it is a superior lsd, and i need all the help i can get..... |
Re: Mugen vs. ATS LSD (Rodney)
Looks like Quafie is off teh list for the K... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif
You gotta love that lifetime warranty though |

um, has anyone EVER heard of a quaife breaking? i do believe that the thought of a gear type ABD Quaife LSD breaking is sheer myth. it is my understanding that of the many THOUSANDS of quaife ABS sold over the years (most for racing) Not ONE has EVER broken. ever! so that is not a good reason. AND, they are used by a LOT of race cars. the smooth delivery of traction and lifetime warranty, lack of rebuillding requirements and no break in make a quaife a no brainer in my book!!

yes, for the average user, a quaife is good, but for outright traction, a clutch type is faster. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by lax1185 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">On average, how often is a rebuld neccessary on a clutch-type LSD?</TD></TR></TABLE> all depends on use. some people can go 3 years ( or more) without a rebuild, others rebuild after a few races. i am on that extreme, as i check my diff frequently. if it drops below a certain initial torque, i rebuild it it keep it's "edge". but this is for a nationally competitive car, not your average street car. before my car went "race" only, i drove on mine daily for about 2 years. |
Re: (Rodney)
i found a pic where the ATS excels vs a quaife.....
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...MXk1NDE%3D.jpg as you can, my inside wheel is on the verge or separation with the pavement. |

Why does the Mugen LSD a 2-way setup? Seems like understeer world to me :/
The ATS is 1.5 way, which is better for our cars. |
