A lot of people do. I run a 6.7lb one on my daily driven ITR and its fine. Wish it was lighter actually.

Re: light weight flywheel question???? (VtecWhore)

are you replacing clutch and pp along with flywheel? if not, then wait until you have to replace clutch, unless... you do your own work.

Running the Comptech AL 6.75lbs.

Popped it in, adjusted idle, and it drives better than stock.

Ill never go back to a stock or heavier flywheel.

I had one of those and loved it. Like somebody else said, though, you really should replace the clutch disk, pressure plate and throw-out bearing while you're at it.

Another thing to look out for, if replacing the clutch, some of these flywheels dont like particular kinds of clutch disk material(ie, ceramic clutch disk material) and could cause excessive chatter or irregular wear on the clutch disk.

Comptech Fw is the best mod yet on my caR so far https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

I wish I was running the Comptech unit.

The only thing I noticed with a lighter flywheel is that if you aren't paying attention when you are rev matching is that the rev will drop a bit faster. Other than that it'll drive just like or better than stock.

But I still https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emlove.gif my ACT 8.8lb

Running the Pro-lite with an Action clutch and I love it. Great for rev-matching and little boost in accel, couple others have felt it in my car and I think they agree.

Yep. 'Spools' up faster. (i.e., revs SLIGHTLY faster) Feels nice. Would love to have a lightweight fly on my R.

Must have added at least 16 whp, right Dave? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Chris - looking for his often used 'JOKE' sign.

So you have to slightly adjust your Idle?

I've heard people talk about a flywheel may bog you a little or even cause you to grind when you crank the car up?
I'm interested in getting a LW Flywheel once I get a 4.9Final to go in w/ the install.
so need to choose 1.Comptech probbaly.May have Acura do it? Not sure?

Will it wear out a clutch a tad faster thne a normal FW,.granted if you rev match and not do ALOT of heavy downshifting?

What's this idle thing? Never heard of that. NO issues with splitime's idle I don't think....

We all know James is a perfectionist. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

I have a lightweight fw in my Lude, and the idle seemed to drop a couple hundred rpm..never bothered me though.

no idle problem in #106 with the comptech piece.. no problems yet in #55 either..

The 6.75lbs flywheel is butter! I have it with an Action Kevlar 1KS clutch. The setup is insane...feels the EXACT same as stock, except it bites a little better. Totally 100% drivable in the worst DC traffic imaginable. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emhammer.gif
GO GET ONE WOOHOO!

As for the idle. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif I confess, I didn't plug in the IACV at first and tried to "adjust" my 2000rpm idle. In hindsight you probably don't even have to adjust idle, but I did... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

http://hogens.com/pics/everything.jpg

You see that shiny ring around my stock Pressure Plate? That's from the throw-out bearing. I'm a "mad clutcher" .. and the Action with Comptech is an amazing setup. Highly recommended!

You carry EF-1 parts as well right?

My friend used to carry action/EF-1 but Im not sure he does anymore.

Tweakmeister Jan 7, 2004 01:10 PM

Re: light weight flywheel question???? (DsR)

EF-1 = Rocket Motorsports. Yes, still carry their stuff and much of it is even better priced. I need to call Rocket....

You said it! Thats what I'm going for.STOCK Type Feel,..with a tad more bite.something I can handle in traffic as well as Hard Driving. I will Look into the Action Kevlar clutch,...any others out there that are STock type Frrl taht are Good w/ a decent price?

I always had problems w/ the Damn throw-out bearing noise

Sorry that was a slight change of subject!

So maybe I need to head towards:
1-Competch Flywheel/TODA,.etc
2-JDM Final
3 Action Clutch and/or Stock type Clutchw/ some bite>
