LHT master cylinder brace/engine dampner
 

Sorry for the long post, i have an ls but I though you R people would appreciate this more! I took a trip to the dyno a few weeks ago and noticed that my motor moved all over the engine bay when letting off the gas. I then saw that john from LHT had come up with an engine brace to prevent this from happening. Apparently "scooter" was having the same problem and had one made. Anyways, i gave it a shot, Half way through i decided I wanted a master cylinder brace also, called john up and he said he would incorporate it in with the dampner! AWESOME! Well, after the install I picked my car up, ( he even went the extra mile to fix a little vac leak I had https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif ). Right away I noticed a diff in the entire feel of the car. The brakes are more responsive and the overall car feels 10 times better.This is one of the best products i have bought for my car. I would give this a 11 out of 10.Service was top notch also. I would reccomend John to anyone looking to enhance your cars performance!! Thank You John!!

It's hard to make out what it is in those pics. Can you give a better explaination of how it works and where it attaches?

It is bolted to the 2 nuts that hold the control arm on. Then the one side of the shock bolts to the bracket and the other to the hole on the back of the head. There is then a bolt coming off the bracket going to the master cylinder. Sorry its not to technical, maybe john or scooter will chime in.

have u taken it to the dyno after??? in another post people were saying the engine was flexing in one direction, and twisting in the other since the brace is only on one side of the motor....it kinda worries me.

hrmm.. this appears to be posted after the rather large post about the mr. alex/j's racing damper .. i wonder if lht will make one for the passenger side and how much this bad boy costs..

how much did it cost? i already have an LHT MC brace so i'm wondering if i can just get the integrated dampener, or if it was custom fabricated for your application...

John at LHT is a good guy who makes good products.

That new engine damper and MC brace looks like a good idea.

John, where are you at? What kind of price are we looking at for one of these?

i have a concern about this, as the the engine flexes and the brace absorbs the energy it is being directly transmitted to the mc on the opposite side... a typical mc brace does not put pressure on the mc or booster, it just prevents it from moving outwards from the firewall... this design will put pressure on it forcing it in towords the firewall as it is absorbing the engine movement, which may damage the mc and booster.

So the brace that keeps the engine from moving is attached to the MC? Why not attach it to the frame? That seems kind of dangerous to be putting all that pressure on the MC. It doesn't seem to make sense since now two parts are pushing on either other in different directions with different amounts of force rather than both just being anchored to a solid point.

Polyurethane motor mount inserts are another inexpensive alternative to keeping your engine from flexing.

it is connected to the frame, but it will flex trying to limit the motion of the engine... as it flexes in the oppsoite directiion of the engine it is flexing directly into the mc which it is also touching.

Will it? It's anchored pretty well, I really don't see it being able to move at all... we'll make sure to get some better pics so you can see a bit better. I'm sure John will see this soon.. or scooter...

Since there is a some sort of damper in place, whether it be hydraulic or pneumatic, it will be damping (hence the name) the engine movement and will limit the amount of movement put into the brace.

Your concern may have merit but I think the effect of the engine movement on the master cylinder and firewall will be minimal.

well its just something he should watch out for, he should go have someone rev his engine and watch the dampner work, it will depend on the strength of the backets whether or not it will flex. the brakes failing would not be good.
