From the looks of that pic, it looks as if "the guts" would hender exhaust flow....... Is that the N1?
No that is the Kakimoto R 70 mm exhaust and that is my hand holding it . It is the inside of second (the one next to the muffler) of the two resonnators on the line. It looks restrictive but actually is very freeflowing. And the sound is very nice (for those who are interested), not to loud but you hear the engine a lot more. I especially like the sound I get when I blip the gas to match the engine rev before downshifting. Nice deep sound.

I have a sound meter at work but I don't have the dyno ( nor a 220 hp engine for that mather )

I was talking to mafay about this before and from what I understand, the "R" is the only 70mm one they have. Maybe the other ones have become available in 70mm now too though. . .

The N1 is also 70mm right..... comp97gsr who has been wanting a Kakimoto exhaust for almost a year now.

At the moment, only the Kakimoto-R is 70mm.
The rest: N1, Gt1.0z is 60mm.
IMO, full stainless cat back, at resonable pricing, Made by one of the largets exhaust manufacturer in Japn, it is quite a deal.

Here is what "free-flowing" is suppose to look like...SMSP/Magnaflow Resonator and Exhaust. Nuff said!

Resonator

I am a proud owner of the first GT1.0z exhuast for DC2 I say the exhuast is quite nice and light! everyone LBs counts when have a type-R but yes the exhuast is quite loud but notiveable gains throughout the power band.. pics to come! but over all good price !

I use the GT1 titanium and must say it is the highest quality exhaust I have ever had (not to mentio the lightest). Great tone, perfect welds, and very good design. I've always been impressed with kakimoto and the GT1 is excellent. I also had an R setup before that. Awesome quiet street exhaust. Also very well built but I like the power and rumble of the racier GT1 not to mention the light weight.

I just called BPT today and the guy told me that the one for DC2 is 60mm. So the 80mm listed on the website must be for all those non-Honda turbo cars listed below the Honda application.

- can't watch Kakimoto R DC2 movie in kakimotoracing.com
BPT DC5 I think you put the wrong file link for kakimoto DC2

here is the right link

http://www.kakimotoracing.com/_VIDEO...und%20File.avi

and wrong one was

http://www.kakimotoracing.com/_VIDEO...und%20File.MPG

do you have any video clip for DC2 with GT 1.0Z so we can check the sound over the internet?

DJ Han.
Yes we do have the pics of the exhaust installed onto the car and also video clips.
They are not loaded up yet on host site yet.
Will get that done tm. If not, you can visit the store and check it out on the computer. Unfortunately, I am very computer illiterate. Even though I have the files on the computer right now, I don' t know how to post it on H-T.
We'll get that sorted out soon!
And yes, our IT man messed up on that Kakimoto-R video file, we will sort that out soon too!
Anyways, also thanks to Fusion ITR (HT member)to allow us use his video clip on the site!
signing off for now!

i know that the kakimoto R is 70 mm which is 2 3/4 inch. How many inches is 60mm? I was going to use the kakimoto R exhaust for my ITR but now im wondering if the GT 1.0Z DC2 would be better.

Yes, the shipment arrived yesterday. And test fitting was already done today. So if you do have time you can drop by tommorrow and we can show you what the exhaust is all about!
Yah it has been quite hot lately, luckily it cooled down today. I hope the long weekend is gonna cool down.......
Hope to see you soon! (man sounds like I am replying to an email!)
The AEM rubber mount... oh yes let us make sure we bring that out from our warehouse tm!

60mm is around 2.25" I think!!

I really like the new GT1.OZ catback, it is light weight and have a smaller tip.
It really a tough choice between the 70mm Kakimoto R and the 60mm GT1.OZ, but it seem like the GT1.OZ was designed to flow very well, as long as one can have a smooth transcation from the cat to the b-pipe.

Too bad that GT1.OZ doesn't have an application for my car!!

Somebody should compare the Kakimoto R vs. GT1.0Z
on the dyno to see which makes more power. This should determine
which flows better

In your opinion do B18C's need 70mm exhausts to reach 200 whp, or is a good 60mm good enough.

I have a customer with my GSR style header who was at 206whp through a 2-1/4" system, but he hasn't been back to the dyno with his 2-1/2". I have another customer who made a little more than 230whp and he's using my full 2-1/2" system. So will 60mm support 200whp? Yes, if it's a good system, i.e. no bottlenecks. I'm sure you can get more power through a 60mm system, the question just becomes how much am I loosing by doing that.

I think a 60mm exhaust is good enough for most light-mild modified ITR. Unless you are making way over 200whps, I don't think a 2.5" exhaust is that important.
If a 2.5" exhaust is that important for making power on ITR, I would think the Japanese exhaust making companys would come out with some 65mm catback already.

Afterall, each company has spent so much money on R&D to try to come up with an exhaust that make more power than other exhausts in the market, if a 5mm differece on piping size and a bit of modification to the flange would do the trick, I am sure they would do that a long time ago.

You sound like Tuan.... who posted pix of one of your exhausts on another web board and I like yours too. Don't you make a 2 3/4" system also?
