Default Raising the Compression, that is the question

I was wondering if someone coud sell me on raising the compressin of my GSR. I am kind of hesitant on this because of a few reasons. First my car has only 15,000 miles on it second, is the time and the hassle worth the pay off, and third it is expensive?? I have heard that 11:3:1 is were you want to be if you drive your car daily and a set of JDM ITR pistons should hit that mark. My car is totally street driven with an occasional trip down the 1/4 mile. I can do nothing else for performance except raise the compression and head work. My GSR is currently laying down 174whp and 130lbs with ITR cams. My best 1/4 is a 14.1 @ 100 mph on 16" SSR Schumachers. What kind of gains would i realize????? Noticeable????? If i chooe not to do the pistons, would a thin head gasket do the trick. thanks

jeff

Default Re: Raising the Compression, that is the question (jpGSR)

most after market head gaskets only raise cr by less than .05
i would think that the pistons along with itr cams would make a noticable
difference but if you do them get the head gasket and at least get itr valve springs
if not spoon, toda, jun or mugen springs.
