Default How to remove stock radio

Ok, I know there are two screws that are holding it in the back, but theyre in such a hard position. I tried taking apart the whole center console, but one of my screws wont come out from behind the ash tray. I know I can get that stoopid deck out w/o taking out the console, but my hands cant work back there. Would one of those screwdrivers with the bendable extension and is electric work well?

Put a Alpine tag on the front of it and leave your car unlocked at he movie theater for 4 hrs. The radio will be removed when you return.

Ask one an Acura tech, I'm sure they will share with you.

Its really tough to get the two bolts in the back of the radio if you are a big guy. I was able to use a socket wrench.

Check the link. It helped me.

I know what you mean; it is a bitch to get at those two back screws. I useed a socket to get the screws out (socket screwdriver, and the appropriate socket size). That seemed to be the best tool to use. I think I used a wrench to come in at a 90 degree angle from the screw driver once I had set it on one of the screws and used that to get it out. It's really wacky.

I would suggest getting an elbow joint of some type to get at the screws. Hard to explain really. Just try a couple of different ways, you will get it eventually.

Thanks for posting that link!! I will be doing the reverse, putting my roommate's factory stereo back in his Gee Ess Are...

He had his aftermarket stereo stolen some time ago, and then put the factory head unit back in himself. Well, he thought it was all well and good. Took it for a test drive a little bit ago after Willard did a valve adjustment and I did an oil change... Caught second gear and the freakin' stereo shot out of the dash!!

I will put in back the correct way now.
