Highest mileage R on H-T?
How's the motor running? any major/potential issue with the car (in general) and need to be fixed/repaired? Don't forget to list your usage as well, cause track-bitch or turbo-ed not consider as daily driving. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif
Just estimate how long with my daily driving R would last and what kinda of major things might come up in the near future. for the record, my car is around 39K. |

I saw one w/ 149,000 on autotrader, email him.

Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (01-1194)
I put 125K miles on my ITR motor, and then someone else (sgT) put another 20K miles on it without any problems. The bottom end was then used to win a NASA H2 race in yet another ITR (#71 Warren Wang). https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif
Basicly, just keep oil in it (changed regularly by at least 5K miles) and keep up with other regular maintenance. These cars make great daily drivers. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif |
Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (zygspeed)
What about Jeff and Matt's cars? (budman and D) They have a ton o miles, not sure if they have as many as Ed's yet....

I plan on having my 97 until 100K hopefully. As far as unforseen mishaps, I don't feel that ITR's are more prone to problems anymore than other high-revving Honda engines. Keep it off the drag strip if you want to see 150K miles without spending a fortune. That's the beauty of the R, it's great for a daily driver (my only car https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif ) and it handles incredibly for a front drive under 25 grand. |
Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (Stock97ITR#50)
If I am not mistaken, BudMan is well over 100k miles

D has 120K, but just dropped a valve. not sure about Budman, but some guy in Europe has over 220,000 kilometers on his. |
Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (RealTypeR)
Budman has 110,000 miles, give or take. I forget the exact number, but it's some obscene amount of miles considering how hard he flogs it around the track.

Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (01-1194)
My 2000 R just hit 100k last week. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (Batoutahell)
My most recent ITR (97 #151) is at 71K miles and doesn't seem to use any oil at all.
I just wonder how long I can leave it as it came from the factory!!! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |
Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (zygspeed)
98 ITR 138,000 give or take a few miles.

Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (Batoutahell)
It's 111,293 to be exact. Never opened the bottom end, original vavle train.
Hmmmm let's see how many reasons it shouldn't run... - lost crank pulley bolt during Expo 2 (chasing and passing viper w/no bolt) - AEM cam gear came completely loose while Batoutahell & I were driving down the street - BOY WHAT A NOISE THAT CAN MAKE! - I drove it everyday in rain, sleet, snow & ice until a few months ago (beaters rule). - ~5-6 track weekends at Heartland Park, 1 track weekend at MidAmerica Motorsports park in Omaha, 1 trip to Deal's Gap, drove at Gingerman (exblo 2), drove at BeaveRun (exblo 3), & I'm driving her out to Summit for Explode 4! AND last but not least - I don't flog my car hard, Batoutahell just drives like a wussy https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif hehehehe |

Keep it off the drag strip if you want to see 150K miles without spending a fortune. QUOTE] Keep it off the drag strip??? What is so strenuous for an engine to run for under 15 seconds hard? The drag strip is easy on a car if you ask me. Harsh daily driving conditions are what will turn an engine in....not a drag strip. |
Re: Highest mileage R on H-T? (itr 00 0108)
he means.. don't push the car to limits and it will last longer.
