Dipstick t00b is loose... :|

dipstick tube is loose
hopefully making this easier to find ;-)
Anyone else have this issue?
Once my car is warm, the dipstick tube loosens up allowing rotation and even removal.
I have tied the dipstick/t00b down using some wire that is looped under one of the header shield bolts...
Oil + hot stuff = :FIRE:
I know of one other 2001 ITR owner that had this issue...
'JB weld' is how he fixed his...
Thoughts?

Re: Dipstick t00b is loose... :|
my dip stick tube is loose for a while and is the cause of my more than normal oil consumption. i am thinking about going in an mechanical approach to fix this by welding a bracket to the block with a nut and then weld another bracket to the tube and bolt it down. or weld the bracket to the block and to the tube directly so it doesn't come loose. then reinforce with either HB or JB weld to take care of the leak.
what you guys think?

I have this same issue, but I never bothered to repair it. I never noticed oil escaping through it though, is that how you're loosing oil?

i am losing oil from the t00b and from the PCV oil filter can. my friend who's a mechanic said that it's very common for B series motors to have oil leak from that can since the gasket/seal are the weak point on that thing. i am already running a second catch can and it still causes a problem.

Argh, I ordered a new tube, but the seat area seems to be of larger diameter than stock? Reason I say that is because even with the car hot, the new tube doesn't seat all the way. I took a wood block and a rubber mallot and even with crazy man whacking method it would not seat. It feels like it needs to go in another 1/2 cm but it just won't go. WTF mate. I guess I could try and sand the seat down a bit so it slides in all nice, but slides in nice probably means slides out nice too. Son of a B.

bringing back an old(but very useful) tread I believe.
the t00b on mine has came out of the block again and it is always lose now so I will replace it with a new one and use some HondaBond this time as suggested here.
can't remember, do you have to press fit it until only the bottom section(smallest) is in and section 2(where it gets thicker) sits flush with the block or do you have to wack that middle and thicker section inside of the block as well and then the flat part(larger diameter) sits flush with the block?
Thanks!
