CW ITR at the junk yard in Japan NBD
Any one else here live in Japan ? The longer live here it seems the more more prestigious cars are just getting tossed away kind of sad.
well today I stop by the local junkyard to see if I can get some random 10 mm for my Supra when I noticed this championship white Integra type R up on the lift. immediately I ran over to talk to the owner, he said he picked the car up for 900 bucks it was selling it for scrap but first pulling the motor because he heard they’re worth quite a bit then scrapping the car for weight.
I ended up buying the whole front, side skirts, hood, hatch all the interior pieces and center console, cluster for 160 bucks
its really sad to see these things go down the road like this. The guy drove it in and said the only problem with it was clutch and he didn’t want to deal with it. I felt like I had to share as I don’t really own a Honda any more and the last GSR I had killed me when I had to let it go. Well at least now the parts I have will be for a build when I get back.

Poor ITR .. off to the crusher Nice that you got some parts!
That is the way it is in Japan. There are some who are catching on to the demand for these 90s JDM cars.

Seems odd. I keep half an eye on the Japanese export auctions and ITRs are worth money. Surprising it got past everyone over there to be scrapped

My god...I still can't believe that this kind of thing happens, when they go for an arm nd a leg anywhere else. Then, once my shock subsides, I began to feel sad. *Sigh*

this stuff happens on a daily basis. You see the auctions because that’s what dealers are selling to people that don’t know any better. It’s kinda like the states when you see dealers mark ups. But locals don’t care at least most of them. For example every single time I got on the junk yard here there is a DC5 being crushed in running driving condition. No one cares. The scrap is worth more, If dealers can advertise on line to a different market they jack up the price, meanwhile the locals are selling for a fraction.

The cluster alone is worth $100. You cleanup for $160. Were the Recaro seats spoken for? Was the front strut bar available?

Sure, the integra’s are plentiful. Let me know specifically what your looking for. The recaros were spoken for but probably could of picked them up for 100 bucks. Here’s a few more pics of the cars I’ve seen junked

looks like you live in Okinawa, when I was last in japan in Yokosuka in 2013, I would hunt the local adds for cars, yes DC2 Rs were going for around 3-4k locally, which is what importers state side usually just sell the swap for.

And this is how the jdm market in the US is able to work. Buy cheap in Japan and then sell with margins in US.
