I'm putting Motul RBF 600 brake fluid in my Type R and do not want to mix this expensive fluid with the crap dot 4 I've got in there now. My assumption is that if you just fill up the MC and continue to bleed, it's hard to tell when the new fluid has displaced the old (both clean & clear) and also that the two fluids would swirl and mix up in the calipers and thus dilute the new expensive Motul.

Is it OK to gravity drain the entire brake system then refill it entirely with new fluid?

Does this cause too many problems getting rid of all the air?

Will it gravity drain through the ABS unit (which is inline)?

Never heard of anyone doing this and can only imaginge the problems you will cause.

I would just do the best you can bleeding normally.

Bleed the entire brale system the correct way, if some old fluid mixes in with the new stuff, it will still be ok. That is if the motul is okay to mix with lower grade brake fluid (im not sure about motul, i know ATE super blue mixes ok).

if you ran the system dry, you'd have several weeks of trouble ahead of you getting air out of the lines i'd imagine...without some crazy vacuum system like the one they used to fill the lines in the first place. don't worry about the mixing, it's gonna mix anyway, old fluid coats all kinds of stuff throughout the system. just do it the only way you're supposed to

just get rid of your current fluid in the reservoir. fill with motul and bleed normally. if you're using honda dot fluid you'll be able to tell when you've bled the old fluid out. motul is more of an amber color- it's not as a drastic change as using ATE or anything but it's fairly obvious. If you want to be through, just get 3 bottles of motul and bleed a bit more.
