Clutch (?) problem after track event

First track event after a long winter. I'm in my third heat and was going WOT. Suddenly I noticed my gear stick was getting "stiffer" ; I had to use some muscle to get in gear. I continued for about half a lap, but the stick was getting so stiff I could bearly get in gear anymore.

So I stopped and let the car cool down for a couple of hours. Now there is a whistle sound just when the clutch engages. I can get it into gear, but only when revs is under about 2000rpm. Even then the stick is still very hard. There's no grinding of any kind, the stick is just damn stiff http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif. Other than that the car feels fine.

Anyone know what this might be?? I initially thought maybe my clutch fluid might have boiled (it's a couple of years old), but since the problem didn't go away when the car cooled I guess it's not that.

Sounds like your throw out bearing or one of the springs has busted. I had the same thing happen to me in my last teg. Time for a new clutch.

What do you think the whistle sound might be?

sounds like me too. i havent had a chance to change the clutch though.

whistling in mine too, my guess is clutch is making not even contact with flywheel? i dunno when i glazed the clutch once before it made the noise.

maybe the t.o. bearing?

actually mine was in winter storage too.

I've just visited my local Honda mechanic and he though it was busted springs as well https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif. Looks like the stock clutch wasn't meant for track driving.

Previous owner of my stock itr told me, that his clutch fell into pieces https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif , so he had to replace it (only the clutch plate) before he sold it to me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif . Maybe it is common for ITR's? 9k shifts can't be good for the clutch. Anyway, now I have a brand new OEM clutch https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Time for an upgrade https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Stock isn't too bad, especially if you're stock or near stock.
