Default catch can install question... yes i did a search

i'm about to install a catch can on a boosted b18c1 engine. i've seen some people leave the entire stock pcv system intact and basically just splice it between the pcv valve and the manifold. others remove the pcv valve and cap off the port on the manifold and put a small filter on the catch can. i'm thinking the second option would be better for my application. any thoughts?

I just installed my catch can last night.
To keep it as stock as possible, I removed the small (2 inch) hose connecting the intake plenum to the valve cover (not the tube). I then ran one hose as an inlet to the can, and another from the outlet of the can to the orginal tubing connected to the valve cover.
Jeez, this is hard to explain... I'll take pics for you soon.
...and what's this about a filter prior to the catch can? ...the can is the filter.

what i'm wanting to do is run a hose directly from the black box (remove the pcv valve) to the catch can and NOT run a hose back to the intake manifold. instead i would use a small k&n filter on the extra nipple to keep dust and dirt out of the catch can. i believe the reason it is set up this way is because under boost, the pcv valve closes and traps blowby gasses in the block... therefore causing pressure to build.. pressure which will seep past your rings. CAN ANYBODY CONFIRM THIS?

the install depends on which catch can you're using.. if you're using a moroso can you'll want to mount the pcv on top.. if you're using a cusco or greddy can you can just 'splice' it in and run hoses from the stock pcv..
