The mushy brake pedal has prompted me to do a full brake inspection, thinking that the soft pedal may be more than needing to bleed the brakes (again).

My rear pads are toast (time to call Andie). I know lots of people are running the Cobalt Spec-GT in the rear with the Spec VR up front so I thought I would give those a try (had the Endless CCX).

I did noticed some weirdness in the front pads.
1) One of the pads from each front corner is worn more than the other from the same corner (I don't know if it is the inside or outside pad). Is this normal? Should I 'rotate' them? Which side normally wears faster?

2) I noticed some breaking apart of one of the pads near the top edge. Is this anything to worry about? Here is a pic of what I am talking about:

That wear is normal and yes you can rotate it.

Do you know which side normally wears faster? I don't want to accidently jsut put them in the same way they were...

the inside pad always wear faster...
part of that is bc most people do not remove the dust shield

the uneven pad wear can be taken care of by purchasing some sp00mage

Looks normal to me. My Spec VR's usually look like that. What brand are these?

Also, pads can cause a spongy pedal. I swear that some pads just get spongy, either glazing reduces the friction or the material gets uneven.

Yep, Spec VR's... They may be glazed a bit so I may use a little sandpaper on them lightly - I've heard that helps.

Someone that knows better might be able to help, but sure enough, they DO look glazed. There's most of your spongy pedal I bet. They should be better when you're done... hopefully... let us know Otherwise it's air molecules in between your brake fluid molecules.

I'm betting my pads are glazed based on the pedal feel...
Are they trash now or will some sandpaper fix the problem?

no worries, some sandpaper and they will be good to go...

as for Mr. Fries pads, those look ashed, which there is no hope for

Did someone say HOPE?! My brakes now have hope. We'll see if these ghetto ducts survive (new from yesterday... the ones I did yesterday didn't clear the wheels.)
