book on cars, especially integra
I'm almost done with class, so I have more time to spend on getting to know my car. do you guys know a good book on learning what's a car is made of, especially the japanese cars? A friend of mine told me that i can get like a mechanic manual for type R from the dealer, but it's very costly, coz it's like the secret of the dealer mechanics or something.
there's a book from autozone on repairing integra, but that's not really what i'm looking for. I want something that explains what each part in the car does etc. thanks -zaki |

Here's a start...
http://www.howstuffworks.com You could also purchase a "dealer mechanic's secret book" from http://www.helminc.com http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmilep.gif |

I don't think there is a good replacement for the Helms "Shop" Manual.....

If you want to know extreme detail, then get a Helms manual. It is the "Bible" for our cars.
If you want general knowledge of car function then http://www.howstuffworks.com is the greatest website out there for all general science knowledge. I think in your previous post, other HT members sent good links for the Type R. Or just take a run down to your local Barnes and Noble or Border Books and scan the automotive books. |

I have heard from another member that the dealer manual is better than the Helm's manual?!
I would like to get the best one, anyone else have an opinion on this? Thanks! |

The only thing that makes a helm manual better is tabs for the stuff you do alot...it's worth every penny of the ~60 bucks it costs, the most important tool in the garage http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif
