wow good job https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

I don't mind the outside, but this K20 fad is really pissing me off.

I'd maybe do it to a lesser Integra or a Civic, but the ITR really doesn't need it. Only way I'd do it is if I blew my B18 and finding another would be prohibitive.

Stop complaining https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Because you know when they drop in a K20 your going to get beat...

If I had cash to burn I'd do it too. But while keeping the stock motor under my bed https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Those days are right around the corner, Ross.

I can forsee running out of B18C5 blocks sometime soon.

Moreover, if the B18C5 rebuilt costs the same as a K20A swap, why not do it?

Well, when that day comes, I may change my tune.

Because I'm a sucker for originality. I am of the strong opinion that our cars will be highly collectible one day. Who the hell wants a '66 Mustang with a modern 4.6 modular V8 in it, even if it is a better motor?

Not bloody likely. Most of the people I see dropping the K20 in are not the kind of drivers I'd ever run across on track. I don't mind losing a drag race, but I doubt I'll ever have to give a point-by to a K20'd garage queen.

The only big issue I can think of is all the trouble that's necessary to get the six speed K motor gearbox to work in a DC2 chassis.

Although they'd finished it off nicely and covered it all up, the only K motor conversion I looked at up close had involved quite a bit of cutting to get everything to fit where they wanted.

I'm sure the problems have been solved by now, somehow. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

hmmm...

k20 = roughly $5-6,000 https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif
Harness = Expensive
Mounts = Expensive
Custom this and that = $$$$$

In the end... a good 10,000 roughly estimating . NO THANK YOU https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

That's my new AWD TSX Down payment https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

In good time there will be no issues with the K20A swap....its being done efficiently right now and its really still a trial issue IMO! Give it another solid year or two and the conversion will be just as easy and parts will be just as accessible as B-series swaps are now.

Hmm. Can't it really cost quite a bit less? Those 200 HP K24's were being dumped for 3500 inclduing the six speed.

The total, including harness, mounts, fabrication, etc probably runs around that much...including the engine/tranny. So yeah the cost effectivness of a K-series swap is only going to go up....

Has prices drop? Barely https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

I beg to differ.....

when i bought my swap i paid $4650 shipped and iv'e see them for $3500 frequently! Plus you have to consider that once this K-series crave really starts moving the R motor will see another price break just to keep them moving from shops selling them.

$3500 for an R?

Where? Not from Reputable companies such as hmotors or IAS. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

I found a shop selling mine that i had never heard of...researched them, asked for references and made the deal. Couldn't have been happier. With the bigger companies selling them of course you wont catch the break you will with smaller companies even private sellers.
