Air Tool users/owners, need your help with oiling the tool.
Just got some impact wrench and air ratchet. The owners manual says to oil the tip daily (after and before each use). Do I have to use the specific manufacturer oil or can I just use motor oil?
thanks.
thanks.

Holy EP, what are you doing with a 1" impact?? Building a tank?
I'll give ATF a try. They are cheap enough. Do you just like take a few drops or you dip the tool in the ATF??

crane mechanic...those things have some pretty big bolts..i usaully hold the trigger open while pouring some in through the air inlet..make sense? its also important to oil after you use your tools..because of the moisture in the air lines..could rust you guns on the inside..one of my drillsfell victom to this..ahaha

Use an inline oiler that connects right next to the tool, that way you don't get oil in your supply hose, which would interfere with painting later on etc. Also, use a good oil designed for air tools. Otherwise you could damage the seals. Pnumatic tools sometimes have specific oiling requirments and regular air tool oil will ruin them. I noticed my hitachi coil nailer lost it's seals because it needed "special nail gun" oil.
